So, just to make sure, the optical cable would be going into the SPDIF port on my PC and that would work?

Im getting a PS3 and im planning on using the HDMI cables with a HDMI to DVI converter then plug it in my PC monitor. I'm not really sure what the deal is with HDMI but as far as i know the sound and video both come out the same cable so, how would I be able to handle the audio in this situation?

Actually believe it or not I managed to find some DVI cables and pluged them in and my monitor is now running very nicely under 1680x1050! :) thank you everyone for you help.

Hmm, on the box for my video card it doesnt say it supports the 1680x1050 resolution, i suppose that is what the problem is. Is there any possible way to make it support this resolution with software? Kinda like how the xbox update made the resolution availiable?

Thanks in advance

I also get the same prob when using my 360 with the letterbox bars, and im sure i have the resolution set to 1680 not 1650. i downloaded the driver for the monitor and now i can set it to 1600x1200 without it going off screen but it just doesnt look right.

My monitor, the Samsung Syncmaster 226Bw, says that it displays at a native resolution of 1680x1050 but when i set it to that resolution the picture doesnt fit inside the screen. I have an ATI Radeon X850 gfx card and it has the most recent driver. I am using VGA cables to connect from my PC to my monitor. I currently have it set to 1360x1024 because that is the largest resolution that seems to fit. Anyone have any ideas to why this is not working.
