Does anyone else agree this is one stupid way to think? My friend said this to me yesterday and I laughed in his face and told him that hitting your kids won't make them "respect" you, it'll do the exact opposite. Do you agree?

Don't know if this has been posted already or not, but:

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful."

Yes alot of my school loves it. I got criticized for reading The Watchmen and not Twilight because The Watchmen is "stupid and doesn't make sense". Hopefully Im not the only one who sees the irony in that statement.msi276

Are-are you serious? You're serious. That's so...wrong...

[QUOTE="ayanami_rei"]I'd like to see them say they love vampires when they see them portrayed as dark, cynical, and sadistic creatures of the night.Jandurin
:| What? Twilight has, what? fuzzy bunny loving vamps?

I found out (thanks, Internet) that the "vampires" in these trash books don't go in the sun because...wait for it...THEY SPARKLE LIKE DIAMONDS!!!! Srsly.

Yes, there are fanatics at my school and every single one of them is repulsive and annoying.

[QUOTE="epayps2"]I have trouble believing that this is real.... MrGeezer

It doesn't MATTER if you think that this is real. This stuff actually happens. I know that it's hard for a lot of the pampered upper middle class children to understand, but there are real people dying every day. People who get raped in the streets, aborted, murdered, die in car crashes, die from cancer, die from starvation and war. It's easy for the rest of us to look at the news and see it as a statistic or a joke, but for somebody, it was REAL. You might not give a ****, but for somebody here, it was a personal and devastating loss. How can you personally reply to THAT PERSON'S story, and basically say to their faces that they're lying and that you hope they die?

Do you guys have ANY sense of conscience?

Look, even if you DO think that people are full of ****, the lesson here is that you don't say that ****. Suppose that someone posts a suicide threat here and you think that they're just looking for attention. How does it HELP you to tell someone who is POSSIBLY hurting and vulnerable and lonely that they ought to kill themselvs? How does that help YOU? Does it gain you "e-respect" or something? Is your "e-respect" worth REAL PEOPLE suffering? And if they ARE lying, then how does it HURT you to not say anything? Really, if you think that people are lying about the kind of stuff that absolutely DOES happen to THOUSANDS of people EVERY SINGLE DAY, then how hard is it to just IGNORE THE DAMN THREAD?

You, sir, are awesome. Well said.

My aunt emailed me a little bit ago, wanting my opinion on something. A radio station is doing this thing where you can write them with a Christmas wish (plane tickets to visit family, toys for the kids, something for you, whatever you want under $2000) and if they choose you, you get whatever it is you asked for. They'll be doing this until Christmas. (I don't think there's a limit on how many people they're going to choose, they do it a couple times a day.)

She wanted to ask for a PS3 for her son, because they already can't afford one, and especially not now because he has to get a minor surgery a few days after Christmas. She asked me if she should feel bad for asking for something when there are people out there that are worse off than they are. They aren't exactly poor, my aunt and cousin, but they're far from rich. He's getting a couple things this year, but they can't afford the PS3 which he really wants.

There have been people that asked for not-so-selfless things, and then there are others that have. I told her she shouldn't feel bad, it's not like she's being selfish or anything.

So, what do you think? Thank you for reading, sorry if it's too long or confusing anywhere. :)
