Try Runescape, runs on pretty much any laptop. I've never played it myself so I don't know how good it will be, but I understand it has got a huge player following, so it must have something going for it.

Have you tried deleting the "ClientRegistry.blob" file in the Steam folder? It has fixed many similar problems that I have encountered in the past. Steam will automatically re-download the file upon restart.

60 FPS on Crysis is pretty good so don't worry about it, besides FPS won't make a difference as far as the googles are concerned. Only your monitor refresh rate needs to be 120, FPS has nothing to do with it.

PC gaming won't die as long as companies like Valve and Blizzard still exist. They know how to tackle piracy and their games are of such good quality people don't mind spending their money.
