[QUOTE="Diablo-B"]Its sexist to feel different to seeing violence towards women than men. You are innately belittling women as being inferior and in need of protecting.AmazonTreeBoaCall it what you want, but I still don't like seeing a guy hit a girl. If that makes me a sexiest in your eyes, then so be it. Also seeing girls beat up all the time from a man makes it pretty clear that when it comes to fighting, the average girl is inferior to the average man and do need protection.Your entire psychology is the reason they're "inferior" in a fight. You tell someone that no matter what, they can't beat up X, they will live their life in fear of X, and others like them will also come across as "inferior" to X. Self. Fulfilling. Prophecy.

Can you imagine how much better things would be if we took a second to realize that the world's strongest man would get his ass kicked by Anderson Silva, ergo strength =/= fighting skill, ergo we should stop pounding it into people's heads that women being weaker than men means anything? Male-on-female violence is so rampant because we've instilled a sense of dominance in one and straight up fear in the other when it comes to hostile interaction. We've given men the psychological edge, and that's all they need. If women were taught "hey, you see that spot on his chin? **** hit him there" the numbers would look very differently, and you wouldn't have made this thread because you wouldn't see women as automatically being inferior in a fight against a man.I personally don't feel worse or display more outrage if I see a child or women being shot in the head.
The sex of the victim doesn't make it unbearable to witness, rather the type of violence being applied. I cant watch anyone; man, woman or child getting their head cut off.
If it's too gruesome to watch, it doesn't suddenly become easier to stomach because a guy is the victim.
I'm of the belief that the social acceptance of male on male violence is one of the major problems in our world. Can you imagine how much better things would be if men were taught to show the same reluctance to hitting men as they do women?

[QUOTE="lostrib"][QUOTE="famicommander"]The entire Nolanverse is pretentious trash and I welcome the day everybody finally moves on from those movies. Shaky cam action sequences, Batman with zero detective skills and Cookie Monster's voice, characters that consistently announce their narrative purposes directly to the audience, hamfisted social commentary, all three films about 45 minutes too long... Ledger as the Joker was okay, but he pales in comparison to Jack Nicholson and doesn't even begin to approach Mark Hamill's Animated Series performances.famicommander
whatever makes you feel superior, hipster
Being able to examine movies critically does not make someone a hipster. I'm a huge Batman fan and I wanted the movies to be great, but they aren't. I very honestly believe that the reason The Dark Knight is so well liked is because it's the first time a whole generation of movie-goers was able to actually understand symbolism in film (because the movie hammers you in the face with it in such an obvious and constant manner that you'd have to be oblivious not to). As far as I'm concerned there are only two watchable live action Batman movies: Burton's first and Adam West's 60s movie. Returns, Forever, & Robin, Begins, TDK, and TDKR are all bad movies in general (in addition to being piss poor adaptations of the character). Most people who went to see The Dark Knight didn't care for the symbolism. There's several different reasons why it was the 1st billion-dollar superhero movie: - It's Batman - Batman vs. Joker is one of the most iconic rivalries in popular culture, maybe only bested by Superman vs. Lex Luthor - Heath Ledger was a teenage heartthrob - Heath Ledger died - Heath Ledger gave a classic performance Even TDKR made a billion dollars because everyone wanted to know how Nolan & co. would follow up on Ledger's Joker. He basically the entire damn trilogy, because Batman Begins wasn't even on people's radar. It barely hit. As a matter of fact, I'll say Ledger is responsible for all future Batman hype within our generation due to everyone wondering how the filmmakers will top him, because regardless of how your "critical" examination of the film went, that was one of the best performances Hollywood's ever seen.
