A year ago if they dropped the show after Season 3 I wouldn't have cared. Seasons 1 and 2 were an embarrasment, and while Season 3 was an improvement, it reeked of ratings desperation. Only when they cleaned up the mess of the Season 3 ending and let some new writers take over the creative process did exciting things start to happen. Too bad they had already alienated the fan base and become the laughing stock of the Star Trek franchise. Season 4 was some easily of the best sci-fi I had seen on television, and it's a shame that the show's early missteps prevented it from a becoming a great series.
