You can definitely look at it that way, that all gamers are just different realities within the game. Â I don't think that is what the developers where trying to say exactly, but it all does lend itself nicely.
As far as the lack of choice is concerned, I think that is intentional. Â We make these arbitrary choices throughout the game, but they lead us in the same direction (bird or cage, throwing the baseball, etc.). Â It's a similar commentary about games, that we want all of these choices, but do they really matter?
As far as gamers wanting multiple choices/endings, and that without them this game is worse off, I don't think it would lend itself to the story in a positive way. Â It would muddle the story, as Irrational was trying to convey certain themes and plot devices, and choice ultimately would get in the way of these things. Â If they had included it, they would have had to include it in a way that didn't end up deterring the story, as if they had no meaning...
