It is incredible how much some people actually can piss one other off.
Take for example this (over)hype of Elder Scrolls latest instalment Oblivion. Sure it's quite an interesting game, but much of the game mechanics is stuttering and is sometimes utterly wrong.
Nothing of this did me, my brother and closest friends have to endure during some of our happiest time in the Gothic II world (no, I did not forget Gothic 1, but I prefer to reefer to its latest instalment). The NPC's felt much, much more alive since they actually had some real personality. Sure. There are something Bethesda calls personality in Oblivion, but it's not even close to what Piranha Bytes achieved in the Gothic games.
My issues, like you’ve probably already understood, are in the overlooking of one of the greatest RPG's of all time. Gothic. And now when Gothic III (3) is on it's way out (September 2006 if I'm not mistaken), I really hope people will give that game the same chance they’ve given Oblivion, which they even before it was released, given an "greatest RPG of all time"-status. Totally and utterly wrong.
So do me - and yourself as an RPG fan a favour - and do try Gothic's third installment when it is released, and see if you'll still belive Oblivion is the crowned king of RPG's.
Because there is a big chance you wont.
