With the whole Next Gen Wars finnaly about to come to an end, although the beggining of Sales about to begin, Whats really going to rattle the cage of now and the future?
What im going to look at in this report are the main problems with what gaming could amount too.
Do we really need High Definition?
No, we
dont need High Definition to enjoy games, why make a console today that gets the best use out of High Definition, yes the options are there if you do happen to have a HD TV, but if you dont have one, you might end up paying extra $150 dollers towards a console that is giving something you dont need, is this Why PS3 is going to be Expensive? Yes,
see further for Blue Ray. High Definition TV'a have been on the Market a little over 1 year, and a good sized one (You wouldnt want a small one) will set you back into a 4 figure sum, its really too early to put High Definition into a console, instead they couldve just made the console have more power for the extra money you were paying.
Why are games getting better graphically?
With the recent Cell technology and better graphic chip capabilities Graphics in games are getting alot better, At a more affordable price.
Do we want real life looking Games?
Its nice to sometimes see a game thats Visually Stunning, great facial expressions on a character and effects that put real life lighting too shame.
But photo realistic games are what we want i hear you say... well, lets look at some of the up-sides and down-sides of Photo Realistic Games.
Up-Sides
- Looks Fantastic
- Makes you feel there.
Down-Sides
- Too real, might take away the Fantasy side of gaming.
- Cost more money to buy the console and games.
So where do we put the line inbetween Virtual Reality and Reality?
Is there anywhere to put the line?
I mean soon enough games are going to be photo realistic, so where do we put the line?
Unfortunatly i dont think there is going to be anywhere to put the line, on some games of course, not all.
As an Example, Call of Duty 4 for a Next Gen Console say, it comes out for the Playstation 4. Ok, so weve seen quite afew versions of this First Person Shooter, set in a
real war, with
real enemies and
real guns.
Where do we seperate Shooting somone that looks completely real, in a realistic enviroment, from shooting a real person?
Looking back over the past 20 years, Films have often got banned for showing graphic images that contain the killing of people with blood and effects to make it look real.
With games like this, but even more graphic and the fact a Game
Simulates killing, what can we expect?
We've already seen incidents where people have seen a movie or played a game and gone out and killed somone or in some cases alot of people, The under 18 school kid who played the famous ManHunt witch took you killing gang members in a horrible and brutal fashion aparently warped the mind of the young boy, who killed his friend aparently for no reason.
There was also a shooting incident in America where a couple of teenangers that had seen The Matrix film, and thaught they might have been part of the imaginated system where 'We're not really alive' and living in a computer world, they went out to their local school cafeteria with shotguns and other guns, aparently with sun glasses and long black trench coats and shot fellow students during lunch hour.
ConclusionAs a conclusion, maybe realistic games arnt the answser, or we shouldnt judge the mentality of afew individuals and say the world will get worse because of gaming.
Better graphics are nice, but not needed.
Maybe Gaming is a mind wash?
Maybe its for Self improvement?
Maybe if we ever get thrown into a situation from a game we will know what to do?
Maybe gaming is
just entertainment?
I dont know but i like it...
