Well for the past 2 years, particularly in the spring to fall months, I am immeresed in the fastest growing sport in southern Ontario. That would be Ultimate Frisbee. Its something of a mix of football, basketball, and soccer......with a disc(frisbee for all you noobs). It's basically 7 players against 7 other players trying to move the disc from one end zone to the other, you have 10 seconds to throw before its a turn over all the while cutting, running, jumping, sprinting, diving...anything to get past the defenders.

The length of the field is about the length of a nonstandard soccer field....about the length of Arena football fields. One team starts a point by throwing the disc towards the opposing team and then the play begins. There are turn overs, Hail Marys, short passes, running plays and the always entertaining endzone dives for the beautiful point. Its too bad that ESPN doesnt cover this cause I am sure some of the plays that we pull would look real good on the highlight reel.

We dont win that often (some of our players are not what you call.....fit) but thats fine cause it is more about comroderity then about winning. There are no referees or score keepers....it was a game invented by Hippies for christ sake, you know how peaceful and easy going they are. But it is an amazing game of stamina, patience, and glory (I usually end up getting the points in the end zone, Im basically one of the fast dudes in the leauge....of 67 teams).

But it seems that after the game is over and we have worked our asses off we think that we should go get food and Beer....so much for the work out!! But it's our thing, we go to the local pub, order like 4 pitchers, a ton of food and leave with a 150 dollar tab. We talk about the game, the good and the bad, and about how one girl was so freaking HOT!! or how this one guy was such a freaking tool, I hate the no emotion pricks that play...some dudes just dont get it.

So thats basically how I spend the wednesday nights here in my new home town of guelph. Its always a great time and the friends I have made through this sport have really helped to keep me straight here in Ontario. Good stuff.

Anyways IM out thats way too much for tonight and I want to get a little extra sleep tonight.
