[QUOTE="StvPk87"]

I've always been a gamer that plays both console and PC games, though I have to admit I've been away from pc gaming for awhile since I've been in college. I've been wanting to come back, and I'm going to build a new gaming rig, and then I came to a realization. To me atleast, it seems that PC gaming is being left behind by the vast majority. It seems that all games now are just being made for consoles and then, if you're lucky, they port the console game to PC later down the road. I think this is kind of ridiculous... I will still most likely build my new PC and just hope there are more original/developed for PC games in the near future, but I think I'm kidding myself. Anyway, just wondered what everyone else thinks.

Mind sharing a list of console games that has influence you to feel this way?

Lol honestly I don't feel like sitting here typing out a list of games. But an example of the games are the Tom Clancy games (started on PC and then slowly went to consoles, and now you get the console version first, then a year down the road it is ported over ie. Rainbow Six Vegas/Vegas2 ), Call of Duty games (also started on PC then the shifted and became more concentrated on consoles. The PC versions have more bugs, though they are all released at the same time I believe), Assassins Creed/AC2 (I'm not sure when the first one came to PC but the second doesn't come out til this year for PC), Gears of War (took a whole year before it came to PC), and then you look at the games coming out and you see alot of them coming out only for consoles (ie. FFXIII, Darksiders, Bayonetta, Nier, Demon's Souls, Super Street fighter IV, etc...)

I like your points AnnoyedDragon. I didn't even think about it from the developers work aspect. It is kind of sad for gamers though that games are multi-platform, since most games won't be able to push the limits of the system it is being played on if they are. But, I suppose you can't really blame the companies for this because in the end, everyone needs to make money.

Haha I almost feel ignorant that I was totally oblivious to the fact that there is no first party developer for PC and it's all 3rd party. It's kind of interesting that Microsoft isn't for windows games though (if this is correct). You would think Microsoft would set funds towards big budget games developed purely for windows, seeing as most people without Mac's are using windows. Just my 2 cents.

Haha I don't see how consoles are being left behind Mograine, especially with the big developers developing games for consoles exclusively lately. I checked out those links of games, there are quite a few, though only a handful seem appealing to me (just personal taste). I should have been more clear when talking about games. I'm not referring to the 2D games or "Indie" games, those are definitely still big among that niche market. I'm talking more high budget mainstream games. It just seems like most big games that people buy on PC are available on consoles as well, and tend to arrive later to PC. Though obviously there are exceptions. Haha I always love when people get hostile on forums. It's ok to have a mature discussion. Thanks for those links though, it was interesting to look through.

On a seperate note, I'm pretty excited about Starcraft II. Now if only blizzard would forget about WoW for a little while and make Warcraft 4...

Ok cool, that's totally fine because I don't plan on running two video cards anytime in the near future haha. Maybe when I actually have a decent income. Glad you love the case, hopefully I will too. One last question (I think anyway), will the stock heatsink be fine? I'm not really planning on doing any overclocking...atleast not for a while. This board has been alot of help, thanks.

Ok, I'll grab that case and those fans (If only everything was the price of fans...). A question on the GPU. Forgive my ignorance here because I'm a total noob when it comes to this, but can I use the 5770 on my motherboard since the northbridge is nVidia and SLI ready? Does it matter whether the video card is nVidia or ATI at all? This has been confusing me a little bit.

Haha sorry. I already picked out a GPU I just forgot to include it, my bad. I picked out the GeForce 9800GTX+. This is the one thing I'm not totally sure on. I want to get the best bang for the buck out of the video card, but I'm not sure this one is it. The reviews I've read on it are all really good but I'd appreciate some feedback from you guys. I'll take a look at that case you linked too, thanks.

I decided to take on a new challenge for myself and build a PC for gaming (not a huge powerhouse, but nothing shabby either). I spent alot of time researching and going through different parts until I finally found all the parts I wanted and that were (as far as I made out) compatible. I'm here to ask all of you if these will all work together, but also what kind of performance I'm looking at. I'm thinking I'm going to be able to max hopefully any game currently out, not have to worry about upgrading for a few years, and maybe do some audio and possibly some minor video editing ( I understand a pc has to be pretty beefy for media editing, so this isn't my worry. I'm looking mostly gaming wise).I also have some parts I'm stripping from an old XPS system.

Chosen parts:

mobo- MSI NF750-G55

CPU- AMD Phenom2 x4 945

RAM- I'm not sure what brand but it has to be DDR3 and I'm going for 4GB

PSU- OCZ700SXS 700W

I still need to find a decent/good inexpensive case (Preferrably w/ a glass side haha) with fans. I'm taking the harddrive and the CD/DVD drives from the old XPS, and idk but possibly the fans and soundcard?

I think this is everything, though that is why I'm here, to ask people that really know what they're doing. If you any of you have any beneficial changes for me I'm open ears (Especially same performance for less money haha). Oh I should probably say I'm on a budget of 800 or less (though this probably wont be built and finished until graduation in may.....I'm kinda broke haha. Damn college).

Haha it's funny because if some of you people saw what the consoles go through between getting shipped and unloaded at docks in warehouses and at stores...you wouldn't worry about traveling with your consoles so much; you probably wouldn't want to even buy most of the ones on shelves!
