It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

I picked up a copy of DK: King of Swing at this place called "Pacific Mall", an asian-centric shopping centre located on the borders of Scarborough and Markham.  If you're from Toronto or the GTA, you might have already heard of it.  But if you're not... well all you really need to know is that most of the shops are geared towards asian culture.  It's kind of like a giant flea market, but alot nicer with glass windows serving as store dividers.  Anyways, there are several game shops at PM, many of them offer modding services and of course games.  X-Box fans are SOL though as most of these stores are geared towards Nintendo\Sony system owners.

Now, I don't know exactly where the store owners would have gotten a copy of this game.  Because according to most gaming sites (including GameSpot), DK: King of Swing doesn't even have a release date yet, here or abroad.  But it was on my wish list for a while and then there it was just sitting on the store shelf calling my name.  I picked it up for a mere $25 and it seems to work A-O-K in my GBA SP.  It's an interesting style of gameplay that takes some getting used to though.  Overall, I'm enjoying it.  I'll need to look for more GBA titles the next time I visit.

UPDATE: Just learned DK: King of Swing has been out in Europe for a while now.  I'm still pretty certain that my cart is not an import, but I'm guessing that's where they got a copy from.

Oh My God of War

This game is absolutely sick! And by sick, I obviously mean it's totally awesome. Way intense and way insane. Man, I am so in love with my PS2 right now =)

Sooo... it looks like I won't have enough money to get a PSP this Thursday as I had originally intended, which is very sad news. I was looking forward to many hours wasted away playing Lumines and portable THUG 2. But alas, I didn't even have enough moolah to put down on a pre-order weeks ago. So I guess it will just have to wait a while longer.

It makes me a little mad at Nintendo that Sony's launch titles are so much better than the launch games for DS. Even months after the its release, the only worth while titles for the system really are Super Mario 64 DS and Yoshi's Touch and Go... and even those are just "aite". If anyone out there is listening: FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS, PLEASE BRING "JAM WITH THE BAND" STATESIDE!!! Thank you.

This is where it all begins...

My game-blogging experience starts here... 30 days before the North American release of this nifty lil handheld, the Sony PSP. And while I've been a Nintendo loyalist for quite sometime, I've recently opened my mind (and my heart!) to other consoles. My brother scored an X-Box this past Christmas and I picked up a Playstation 2 around the same time for a mere $159 (CDN) during some crazy Best Buy holiday sale. I've also had my GameCube, GBA, and DS since their respective launch dates. So I'm not a complete newbie to the scene. However, I've always considered myself to be just a casual gamer, playing a game or two here and there when I found the time. But the past 2-3 months have been quite exciting since (between my brother and I) we collectively own all the major consoles that are out right now. It's a great time to be a gamer with so many wicked games available (and for so cheap!) and it's only getting better. So while I'm excited about another handheld on the horizon, I think I'll have plenty of games to keep me busy until then.
