[QUOTE="th3warr1or"] I could say the same about evolution. Were you personally there when they found dinosaur bones? Do you know how carbon dating works, and then head down to the lab in a hazmat suit or whatever necessary gear and do the carbon dating yourself? If no, how do you know you're not being lied to?

Seriously, people need to stop calling other people idiots just because they disagree.

VERY good post.

I don't really like the subject matter of these threads. But the fact remains that they are invaluable in helping me update and place users into corresponding subcategories in my spreadsheets. ...which are later used in pivot tables when deciding how best to respond, who to respond to and who to take seriously (or not take seriously). Thank you for your cooperation in this matter th3warr1or and hartsickdiscipl...update completed. I look forward to posting with you 2 in the future

Let's just say that I may need to develop such a spreadsheet after seeing some of the answers itt.

[QUOTE="Meinhard1"]Anyone who counts the Bible as historical fact is an idiot. It's one thing to have strong faith (or feel strongly) that the Bible is accurate but you shouldn't call it fact just because of this.th3warr1or

It's a thought that has been stuck in my brain, more of a fact actually, just something I never really thought about.

From a pessimistic perspective, you can be a great person, never get any enemies, just live your life, and then one day: you get mugged and killed. You're gone. Just like that.

Kind of sad when you think about it. :(

Mischievity
Welcome to life. Enjoy your stay.....or not! Heh. Op, the chances of of you getting killed in a mugging, at least in first world countries, is pretty low. Way more things to worry about than that.

Sorry fella's. They're not gonna allow the country to enter an economic catastrophe. They're working on some last ditch effort right now, Republicans will announce they were able to deal with the President. Passes. Signed. Done.

Expect all of this in the next 24 hours.

I doubt it. I honestly think Obama will be forced to invoke the 14th amendment. But, then again, I assume the worst of humans.

[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]Use your legs to approach her. Then when in conversational distance, say "Hi, I'm _____. I don't think we've really been acquainted yet." and let that conversation flow where it may. Later on, if you're heading out for a break, say "Hey [name of girl], I'm going to grab a coffee from [coffee place you go], you want me to bring you anything back?" and if she says sure and tells you what she likes, bring it for her. She'll ask how much it was, say "Nah, it's on me. Enjoy your day!" and continue on with your day. If she happens to be going on a break as well, ask her if she'd like to come with you. Chat over coffee. The next few days, just greet her when you come in or go past her, and ask her how she is. Pay attention to what she's saying and rehash this in a later conversation. If she says her parents are away in Mexico for two weeks, follow up about 2 weeks later and ask her how their trip went. She'll like that you listen. Also, a year is nothing, don't worry about that.

What this chick said. Pretty solid advice here.

[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]

Balanced budget amendment is one of those things that sound good but are really nonsense.

It removes the government's capacity to be flexible in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

topsemag55
Who's to say that exceptions couldn't be written in? Natural disasters, wars, etc. One or two simple paragraphs added to the amendment.

Then what's the point of the amendment? Why make things more complicated than they need to be?

[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="topsemag55"] Why is it that Democrats are so against a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution? It would force them to legislate wisely for a change.

Deficit spending is not inherently a bad idea...

Pretty much. It has its uses just like everything else.
