IMO the Holocaust was one of the worst. It started because of old belief that Christians could not loan money to each other, so the Jewish were in charge of Banks/loans. When the economy crashed (post-WWI Germany anyone?) peopled blamed the Jewish community, and because they killed Jesus or something :P I'd rather be killed in a split second then burned alive/worked to death/beaten to death/watch my family die/etc.

They use that for those lovely looking PET scans of brains. They are Positron Emitting Tomography scans, and Positron is short for Antimatter.
