This is pretty skewed since it includes a bunch of compelling games that will be on the 360 as well. If your point is that PS3 and only PS3 gamers will have quality games to choose from, then yes, that's fine. If you're trying to say that this list will cause a bunch of gamers to rush out and buy PS3's, it's a pretty sketchy assumption. Uncharted could be big and I would be surprised if Ratchet wasn't both a substantial hit and well-reviewed game, so while that should drive sales up, I doubt it will be able to compete with 360's massive Halo 3 juggernaut soon to arrive, and Mass Effect has a good chance of doing well as well.

Sure, I like lists. I'll try to remember everything. (GTASA HL2 SSBM RoN UT04 Civ4 MGS3:Sub Rome:TW Starcraft BF2)

1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - bigger, better, than anything else ever. I rushed through this game but it's endlessly replayable.

2. Half-Life 2 - Still the best shooter around since 2004. One of two games I've ever pre-ordered.

3. Super Smash Bros Melee - My personal most played game of all time. I hope this spot gets moved by Brawl.

4. Rise of Nations - My favorite strategy game. Terrific. Still holds up, which is arguably the most definitive test of a truly 'classic game'.

5. Civilization IV - Not the best game ever but arguably the most addictive.

6. Unreal Tournament 2004 - My time spent on Torlan alone completely destroys my time spent with most other games.

7. Rome: Total War - 'Epic' should not be a term applied to anything unless you have seen this game. Combines two distinct different gameplay types in single-player and seamlessly links them together.

8. Gears of War - You may have heard of this game sometime.

9. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence - The MGS games are unlike any others. The new camera angle corrected the biggest problem with the latest installment, so now you can appreciate the full depth of gameplay in the series.

10. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - A terrific installment in one of gaming's most prominent franchises. The Wii version made it even better.

That's my top list! We'll see how this goes.

It was already a contender for my GOTY because I played the last one such an obscene amount, but as for Gamespot GOTY it seems doubtful. They just don't seem to like the series all that much and I doubt Smash Bros could push massive games out of the way. I would edge towards Bioshock as a good GOTY prediction, and also Rock Band because of its insanely good press at E3. Of all Wii games the most likely one to nab the big one is Galaxy, which I do think will get a nomination at least.

Also if they use this as an excuse not to give it online then I will be unbelievably angry. I've been getting nervous because of how quiet they've been over the online features, but I'm hoping they're just saving it for later announcements or something.

Yes, I agree that the worst case scenario provided that the system doesn't sell will be that it will place 3rd.

In fact, it's even the best-case scenario. It's actually the only scenario, unless PS3 slows down just as much.

Also Sony might've shipped more, but 360's sold more per month for this entire year. That's more customers added to an already larger installed base.

Sure, they could end up third and it's always tough to predict the future, but purely statistically, acting like current trends point that way is inaccurate.

CAZUALIZED MGS in development yep it will be named MGS4

features: slow gameplay for the casuals

easy gameplay

easy to follow story

you can play it on FPS mode for the first time

etc...

stay tune for more.

punto23

You think casual gamers prefer slow gameplay? More likely they would find it boring. As for 'easy', well yeah, any game looks easy when played on lower difficulty by experts of the games who have been developing it and know exactly what to do. And 'easy to follow story'? Are you serious? Really? Are you actually serious?

Perhaps you're not. I must've missed the point. Maybe you're just being sarcastic and it was too subtle for me to pick up, and I didn't give you enough benefit of the doubt.

Also, Kojima can champion FPS mode all he wants but I'll remain suspicious. I'm glad they've added third-person shooting though.

And to the other posters - the game looks pretty stealthy to me - I think that this game will mix up ultra-stealth segments a la the previous MGS's and include these large war environments as well, but maybe I'm wrong. In any case I doubt I'll be upset when it comes out.

I don't know. MGS1 was really interesting because it introduced alot of fresh gameplay mechanics into 3D, I enjoyed trying it out a few times but I never finished it. MGS2 was never played in my presence. I picked up MGS3 because of the hype and something to play but I returned it a week later because the game was just boring to someone who wasn't familiar with the story. This game's graphics look decent, I'd say RE5 will give it a run for its money and Crysis runs it over. The gameplay mechanics, as viewed by some non-biased trailer watchers, look a little broken and full of novelty.justdog11

No way this game looks incredible, but that's not much of a surprise looking at the PS2 games, those guys are maniacs.

Crysis doesn't 'run it over' but I would agree that it's superior (though I'm not sure), but otherwise I think that MGS4 is the best-looking game. Combine that with the number of really cool new gameplay mechanics, and the usual insane Kojima story, and right now really the only thing I'm worried about is how labyrinthine the control scheme will be to pull off these moves.

Mass Effect has what is by all accounts of people who played it a really cool, cinematic conversation system that will make even the exposition entertaining, is absolutely massive (why are people worrying about it being too short?) and littered with tons of optional content as well as what will probably be a lengthy, and almost certainly replayable quest with multiple endings, is made by a developer with one of the best pedigrees in gaming, has great visuals and extensive (and likely high quality) voice acting. The combat system looks to fix most of the problems I had with previous Bioware games, when I wasn't big into the combat system (actually, I'm not big into RPG combat in general even if I like the rest of the game enough to play through it, I don't really like that turn-based system).

I doubt 360 guys are going to buy it mistaking it for a shooter, and RPG's have sold successfully on the XBOX before, including ones made by these very guys. I would be willing to bet it won't flop critically, and although I don't think it will be the 360's biggest blockbuster this holiday season (especially not with GTAIV and Halo 3 around, not to mention at least a couple others) I think it will perform fairly well at sales. Your arguments seem irrational and aren't based very well in fact.

Also, to the lemming who commented about if the cows would like you start bashing Final Fantasy - did you see the guys earlier referring to Square Enix as Milked Enix? I don't think they need some of you to start, as at least some of you already have.

I'm thinking AA.

More specifically I'm guessing it'll be an 8.5
