This is a tricky subject to say the least. In any issue like this, responsibility needs to be taken by both sides. I understand what you are putting across here Tom, but focus always seems to go towards the latest medium at the time. When video games weren't so prevalent with graphic gore and violence, people were blaming movies or rap music or dungeons and dragons. Before that drugs were blamed and made illegal, and so it goes on throughout history. I remember when people were blaming Metallica and KISS for issues being experienced at the time (yes I am old it seems), violence being the main concern once again.
As gamers and game developers we do need to make sure it does not get out of hand, and be responsible when exposing young minds to gratuitous images of any kind. But. The source of the problem should rather be dealt with, as opposed to the apparent symptom. That being access to equipment that allows people to kill with ease, it is the school system and most importantly parenting. Which is a whole debate on its own...
@britflik Exactly!! How about addressing guns themselves as opposed to external elements. If games did not exist, they would no doubt be blaming the ozone layer!
