Console Crysis discussion is towards the end of the video

Just as I predicted, it's a memory issue, not a CPU or GPU one. Texture streaming could be possible as he says, but the overall lack of RAM presents problems in order to employ and store a heavy amount of detail. It's actually kind of dissapointing to hear it, as even though I have a high end desktop to play Crysis, I was really interested in seeing how a console version would turn out in comparison. Heres to hopes? Crytek is extremely good at component and resource efficiency and management (they're extremely dedicated to optimization), and I think they could pull off a faithful version of the game, without limiting ones range of movement but probably not without killing some details. Maybe a procedural texturing system? Crysis already uses a procedural vegetation system so I guess other forms of procedural generation can't be out of the question. At least Crytek has other other games in the works probably aimed at consoles as well as PCs, and CryEngine 2.0 has versions for the 360 and PS3.

Well games like to make conflicts between countries as to add some sort of element to draw in the player. Anime and games are heavy in such peoples fighting and warring with eachother. The old UC series Gundam shows are clad in what could be considered some sort of propaganda, but all the different shows take a very deep view into the Federation-Zeon conflict, and ultimately I saw the federation to be the less justified side in the Gundam story despite the travesties commited by both sides. Stuff like this is very interesting and games tend to do it.......alot. And reasonably at times the two or more factions are pretty cliche, as it's some enemy country of current or what not. I think a more likely opposing side would've been China actually. Besides, Crytek is a German company and I think they are just trying to create the best FPS possible.

[QUOTE="TacticalElefant"][QUOTE="WhiteSnake5000"][QUOTE="TacticalElefant"]The extra 50 bucks or so for the 8800GTS 320 MB is definetly worth the more than 3 times performance of a single 8600.WhiteSnake5000
The 8600 is $100, or even less with MIR. The 8800GTS 320MB is $260 with MIR. Are you sure they taught you math when you went to school?

Well its probably because I didn't look on Newegg. Best Buy and Fry's Electronics are selling them for like 200, which is retarded.

Bestbuy is also selling the 8800 for $300. Which still doesn't equate to $50 more. It's still 100 dollars more, especially with tax.

LOL you must want to be a dick getting into the particulars.

8600 for $200, $229.99 normally at Best Buy

I bought my 8800GTS on sale for 280.00 (before tax of course) at Fry's Electronics. So yes indeed, I did spend just over $50 more for 3x the performance. I'm not one for online shopping really...............

"I'm in"?

WTF PC gaming isn't some smug club of wine drinking jerks. It may be a bit expensive but everyone is welcome as long as you have an open heart and open mind :)

Well I bet the game is pretty much finished now. I'm pretty sure they are just doing the last little bits of optimization I'm sure.

I hope Ubisoft can pull it off and it is being built from the ground up for PC, with no eye on catering to console gamers.Decado_basic

Eh I'm sure they'll retract that statement sooner or later. It's Ubisoft, they are liars.

Well honestly I wasn't expecting much from this game, but when I saw that developer diary video of theres on gametrailers.com, I was very intriged with how much detail, animation, and orchestration they wanted to put in the game and vegetation system. However, I'm somewhat doubtful that they will be able to pull of such a system of being able to destroy such small bits of trees and such. Funny I must say though, ever since Crysis was announced and we got the dirt on it's features, other game developers are having to follow suit. Crysis main competitors, which are trying to emulate Crysis are Warhound and Far Cry 2 as they are employing such devices in the game engine. I am looking forward to all three, but I doubt Crysis won't be the better by far out of the three. Crytek is amazing at their craft, like Id and Valve.
