Thanks for the input guys. Good to see @04dcarraher is still active here too! :P

What I meant is that I can't play games on Ultra, or even High with some AA without stuttering, I usually do Medium with Max AA&AF for the newest games, and high/max for anything older than 2016.

And @Coseniath that's exactly what I was looking for, seems like Pascal is right around the corner. From what everyone has said, I need something to hold me over in the meantime so I'll probably grab a used R9 380 or GTX 960. That way I can also fund my Pascal purchase in the future by selling off something a little newer.

Hey guys,

So I built a new PC from scratch back in end of 2012/beg of 2013. Listed below are my specs. Now I am going to preface by saying that I haven't kept up with the latest trends and releases so I am totally banking on your guys' knowledge of upcoming releases.

The last couple games I've gotten I've had troubles running on max (DS3, FO4, Witcher 2/3). No doubt it's my GPU that is causing this, but I am wondering if it's even worth upgrading or if I wait for some upcoming releases? My budget is $300 CAD

Thanks in Advance.

Current RIG:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 77W BX80637i53570 Desktop Processor ...

This is your life. They have lived theirs and now it' s your turn. I say make it clear to them that they are being unreasonable and that you' re going to follow your path whether they wanted or not. It' s their choice if they will be with you or against you.

If after my life attempt to persuade them... if it doesnt work, then I'm going to do exactly this. From then on its their choice whether or not to support me

theyre open to everything else, like same sex marrriage they dont mind, obviously support womens rights, and theyve expressed it. They dont even force me to believe the same religion as they do, they accept the fact that I dont but this is one the things that theyre really hard nosed about.

Of course I live my life for myself, but I feel like thats such a selfish way to live. My parentsd are first generation immigrants, my dad works 50-70 hours per week, every week in a dead beat job so that, as he says it "i want my kids to have all the oppurutnities in life that I never had", he grew up in the slums and been working fulltime in Canada since he was 14.

I know its sounds stupid to some of you but the sacrifies they made for me and my brother are so huge, thats why I want to approach this really carefully, I'm going to watch those videos and see if my parents would be touched by it. And its not about following my parents belief on this subject blindly....I've dated a girl who...if we got caught, I couldve gotten severly injured, or even killed (by her side of the family). So its not entirely about their beliefs (which are really judgemental and frankly stupid) Thanks for all the advice so far!

I am completely seperated from any organised religion, and undecided about several views. but my parents grew up religious but tend to be very liberal about certain issues, and very closed minded about others.

Recently, my parents were tlaking to me about finding a good, intelligent, same "race" women as me. They even went as far as to saying that she must be of the same religion within our race. Now, I've argued over and over aobut this with them, that ignoring skin color altogether, if a girl is intellignet, cares about me, is trustworthy, and contains all the valuble characteristics of a wife then what role does color have ot play it in.

Whenever I sutmp them in these arguments it always ends up[ with them saying crap like "oh youre still young, you dont know anything, youll learn" and all the usual cop-outs from an irrational viewpoint. Now, I want to know whether or not this makes my parents racist and WHAT can actually be done to change their minds, its almost a never ending battle.

Its hard going day to day looking at the thousands of girls around me in college and knowing that about 99% of them will probably cause my parents to disown me, i'm trying to find a way to get to them and finally let this go so that....i can pretty much go "searching" carefree

So....what do?

okay I think msot people ignored the fact that he has 1400 set aside for this, as with most people I doubt you want to spend all of it, this is what I recommend

i5 3570k

AsRock Z77 Extreme

16GB DDR3 1600

Radeon 7950

Corsair HX650(rly wish i couldve gotten this myself, useEMCJHHN45 as a promo to get $20 off)

HAF 932

1TB harddrive

Total:$1,084.93

We can totally drop tghe price or even increase it if you want, upgrade the video and add in a SSD if u want to increase it. and to decrease, drop the case to a mid tower and 8GB of ram.

Also I decided to use 16GB of ram because youre planning to keep this for 5 years, 16GB should suffice, and 8GB is also fine too though

as dumb as this might sound, make sure your DVI/VGA/HDMi cable is all the way in on both parts (monitor and video card), this actuallyhappeened to me and thats why no input was picked up by the monitor

A couple more questions to throw at you guys. I'm pretty sure that my current monitor does not have a place to connect a HDMI cable. Is that something that I will need for gaming? I always see people talking about it. Also, since my monitor only has DVI and VGA, which should I actualy use? Are they both pretty much the same? And what makes HDMI better? I was watching a youtube review of that case and he said that he had problems with it. The power supply was too far away from where he needed to plug it into the motherboard at the top and it could not reach. So he has to purchase extension cables for it. Not sure if that would be a problem for me though. So I was looking for any little ways to drop the price down a bit and found this case that looks generally the same but much lower price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075 Is there a reason why its cheaper? Is it bad or something or would that case be alright?unrealBliss

I'll answer what I actually have some knowledge about

i) since your monitor isnt full 1080p an HDMI cable wont be necessary. DVI and VGA have no noticable difference between the two, but DVI I think is the newer technology, both work perfectly fine. Also HDMI is supposed to bring more crisp picture, but from what I've seen on my friends switching from DVI to HDMI, theres no difference.

ii) the fact that HDMI carries both audio and visual signals whereas DVI and VGA are used for just video, and you would need an AUX cord (usually green) to get audio. It honestly isnt that big of a hassle, if you dont have a full 1080p monitor, no need for HDMI.
