I finally got my Office working, so the functionality of it is back to full pelt, which means I can copy and paste.
Which also means I can put in an extract from the book.
Here's what's happening.
It's all about an 18 year old boy called Max, whom at the start, kills his best friend and immediatly after meets Shard, a veteran demon hunter from an organisation known as ACiD. Shard knocks Max out and fces him to join ACiD, leaving his life behind. Fast forward a little and Max finds his first mission is at his old University, where he meets up with his old girlfriend Ashley. Anyway, Max (Now known as Tainte) Shard and Katatsu (A nymphomaniac demon) fight a very powerful demon called Grifinity, in whcich Tainte becomes impaled. As Tainte lies in the med bay fighting for his life, a huge Parasite (Governemnt officials whom want demons for experimentation and war weaponry.) attack the ACiD base. As Shard, Katatsu some other hunters try in vain to defend the base, Tainte is possessed and wipes the entire army out. There's more, but I'm not giving much else away.
The extract is from the battle at ACiD's base.
WARNIG:Contains fruity language that has been filtered. I'm sure you can draw your own conclusions on this. And no, Tainte is dying, dirty minded people.
"What's going on?" Shard asked a hunter he knew as 'Wrench'.
"Parasites breached the main door and took the entrance plaza and most other areas. This corridor is our last line of defence."
"Parasites took the rest of HQ?! Are you **** serious?!"
"Yes, they were different. Stronger, more skilled, plus there were just too many of them."
Shard thought for a moment.
"We have to hold this line." Shard said. "Are these all the hunters that are left?"
"No, there are about 30 behind here on their way up. There's also about 200 on their way round from the lockdown."
"How many losses so far?"
"Around 50. Most hunters are out on missions"
Shard took out his Uzi, as he did so he heard a gunner from the barricade shout out.
"Here they come!"
"Open fire!" Shard shouted.
Ashley heard the gunfire. She was lying on the bed next to Tainte's lifeless body. She put her arms around him.
"I'm so sorry." She cried. "I know you had to change, just don't die because of me."
"I don't blame you." Tainte said weakly.
"Max!" Ashley said.
"I'm not Max, I had to change, I still do." He replied.
"Shh, don't speak." She said.
"I.....I....." Tainte stammered.
"What?"
"I....I love you." He said weakly before closing his eyes once again.
Ashley cried even harder.
"No!" She screamed.
You're not giving up that easily boy, even if you have to control this pathetic body, I won't fade away like this...
The shockwave sent Wrench flying backwards.
"Breach! Breach!" One hunter shouted.
More hunters arrived and set up steel shields on the corridors and took cover and opened fire.
"Get some cover!" Shard shouted as he drew his sword and decapitated a Parasite and kicked another back through the breach in the barricade.
Heavy fire came from behind the breach. Through the smoke a giant of a man emerged with a gatling gun, cutting down 3 hunters in a second before being shot down himself.
"These parasites just keep coming!" Shard shouted and he impaled yet another Parasite.
There came another explosion which sent Shard skidding back a metre or so.
"Second breach!" He shouted. He reached inside his pocket and took out two hand grenades. He pulled the pin and slid them through each breach, hearing the screams of a Parasite as the shock sent him upward.
Shard was the only one in the open, the other 100 hunters had taken covers and were firing upon the onslaught of Parasites. Suddenly a third, larger explosion occurred, filling the corridor with smoke. As the smoke cleared Shard saw that the barricade had been totally obliterated. Shard saw the scale of the invasion. There was at least 8000 Parasites all coming towards him.
Shard stuck his sword in the ground.
"Filthy parasites" He yelled as he drew his sword back and hurled it at the army, spinning through the crowds like a knife through butter, carving down at least 50 in one go. His swords returns to him like a boomerang; he caught it and sheathed it, then swiftly drew his Uzi. Shard fired 30 shots and killed 30 Parasites.
We can't win this.
Shard punched another Parasite, then jumped over the ground, gunning down all below him. He landed right in the middle of the Parasites. He drew his sword and swung it round 360 degrees, cutting up all parasites around him. He threw his sword again and carved a path back to the cover of the other hunters. He looked at the hunters behind cover. There was less than half of what they began with. Some had wounds but were firing nonetheless. Blood coated the wall.
Tainte's eyes shot open, glowing red. He took a deep breath.
"Max, you're alive?" Ashley asked.
"I must...I must save them." He said as he ripped out the wires again.
"Max?"
Tainte grabbed his sword which was lying on the desk. He walked out of the door and towards the firefight.
"Man down!" Katatsu shouted.
Shard impaled another Parasite and churned his sword, widening the wound. Shard span round and grabbed a Parasite's face, pulled his arm back and hurled him at the crowd, knocking over 5 other Parasites. Shard drew his Uzi and gunned them down, then sheathed his Uzi.
Shard noticed something shoot past his face. He look to his side and saw two Parasite impaled on a large blade.
"Errimir?" Shard mumbled. He turned round and saw Tainte stood there.
"There he is, open fire!" One Parasite shouted. Immediately every Parasite on the front line open fire with their M4 Carbines.
"No!" Shard shouted. He saw the bullets hit him. Red craters began appearing on Tainte chest. His eyes were glowing red and his expression barely changed. Tainte held out his hand and Errimir floated towards it. The blade glowed red. Tainte slashed out in the air. The shockwave spread through the air, cutting the entire Parasite army in half where they stood, yet avoiding Shard. Tainte stumbled, then fell backwards.
