I sold my Wii U within 3 weeks and bought a PS3 again. Phew!

Nearly got what I paid for it too. What a waste of time that was. Long live the PS3!

I made a difficult choice (mainly out of boredom) to sell my 360 and get a Wii U. I had not read up much about it but thought "hey lets treat this a temporary puchase until the next gen come out". The main selling point for me was the way in which I could switch to play just on the gamepad on most games if the Mrs wanted to watch the TV. Also I became a bit of a trophy / acheivement whore with the PS3 and 360. It was time to start enjoy gaming again instead of play until plat and then sell on.

Well to be honest my intital impression after setting up the console and putting in Nintendo Land was "this seems familiar". At that point it did just feel like another gimmick, and not a great one at that.

Its now been a month. I have nearly bought the entire release catalogue and I can say I am chuffed with what the console can do. In some respects the spec does match up to the current gen and in others it lags slightly. But I have never been one of the "it sucks cos its 3 FPS slower" people so I could overlook this and started enjoying games that I had previously rushed through on 360. Batman, Assassins Creed 3 and Mass Effect 3 have been brought back to life and enjoyed thougherly. The gamepad additions for Batman were not majoy changes but added a nice effect. Hearing all your radio messages etc on the gamepad mic makes you feel a little more involved with game. Hell even FIFA 13 is more enjoyable on the Wii U for me.

I am suprised at the amount of hate out there for the system. I am guessing its down to the usual fanboys and people who have not tried the console. I have never been a Nintendo fanboy, usually quite the opposite, but I just love games and the experience a decent single player experience can give. The Wii U has even got me playing a lot of online Black Ops 2 which I thought would never happen.

Iam looking forward to the next batch of games coming at the end of March (the Lego one, Need for Speed,Monster Hunter etc.) and really want Nintendo to hurry up with some proper announcements for the franchise favourites which, I think, in time will make this console a lot more usccessful. With how good Mass Effect 3 looks on this console I am very excited to see where they go with the Zelda and Metroid series.

Well hope my good expeereince gives people the courage to give this console a go. Its a different but very pleasent experience. I am hoping the price point and coming news of the next gen can make me want to trade the Wii U in 2014 but at the moment I am a very content gamer.

Got Starfox 3D, Resistance 3, Space Marine and Dead Island today! Loads to play. PLayed on Dead Island a bit and looks very promising.
