Unlimited download limit, who doesn't have this by now?clembo1990
Unlimited download is last gen. Next Gen is download limit caps. How do you think the best ISPs maintain those super high download/upload rates?

Must be one of the crappy ISPs, or one that has one of those hidden caps.

8mb down (soon to be 10), 1mb up (sure there are better out there, but when you live in a small town, that's a damn good speed). Never have problems. I've been with them for about 4 years now. And they don't have hidden caps... What's it to you anyways? Is that jealousy I detect?

How would you know unless you hit the hidden cap? All ISPs have a cap, whether hidden or public. If you hit a hidden cap, you get a nice letter or phone call urging you to change your download habits... followed by a lack of internet service for a while. XD

[QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]Comcast caps out @ like 250 gigs a month. Streaming or downloading an HD movie will be nowhere near 50gb or what's on a blu-ray. Just like DVDs, most of that is bloated space and you can shrink the file size down using the same codecs and not have a noticeable difference, or you can use newer and better codecs and drastically reduce the file size with little to no noticeable difference. The sooner DD comes the better. I don't live in some backwater place that's dial-up only, I NEVER resell stuff and I only buy games and movies new. For me there are ZERO cons to digital distribution at all. Not to mention that some of the biggest stuff that people bring up is pure bullocks and hasn't ever been in anything that's been distributed digitally... like the idea that you can only download something once or if your HDD breaks, you can't access your content ever again.

Uh, it costs more to buy Hard drives/Flash drives to store all your purchased downloaded stuff than optical discs. And yes, there is a noticible difference between codecs used on Blu-ray movies (VC-1, MPEG4) vs "ripped" HD Movies and compressed HD movies. Lots more artifacting, lack of HD audio, etc. Not to mention no extras or special features.

You definitely are. But don't get to comfy. Now that Comcast is going with nationwide caps and people haven't revolted, AT&T, Time Warner and others have announced plans to extend or introduce caps on their services as well.

Unfortunately, Service caps are gonna be the standard in the U.S. within the next couple years.

And yeah, that will slow the adoption rate of DD considerably...

No it won't. People will just pay the surplus charges.

man people really need ot protest this before it becomes completely standard

Ragashahs
Why? Internet caps keep download speeds high. Without them, bandwidth hogs would drag down download speed.
