I would like to read that study, sounds interesting.

And I know more about Atheism than you think, considering I was an Atheist and then converted, but what do I know?

RationalAtheist

The study sounds like so much meaningless self-aggrandisement to me.

You say you know more about atheism than we think, but at the same time you say atheists "spew hatred towards God". I'd say those statements are contradictory.

You also say there is "a valid, logial argument as to why God might exist". I could get behind such an argument if it weren't only inference-type logic, so what is it? I presume you are referring to a trinitarian Christian God, yes?

Here is the study, it has been reported in a variety of science magazines and journals. http://news.discovery.com/human/religious-belief-critical-thinking-120426.html

Not sure where the scientists and engineers would come from without college, so the concept is awful. It's perpetuated by people with insecurities about their own position in life. It's just bitterness and envy.

Freethinking is an ever increasing entity, the anonimity of the web makes people feel more confident in expressing themselves. Atheism is growing in the west rapidly, but sadly isn't driving politics yet. It is far more popular to harrass people with your own beliefs, and tell them why they can't marry or have rights.

I'm not really into fables and fairy tales anymore, so no.

People do crazy things in the name of fictional writing, although I do find the Twilight fans to be more extreme with their vampire fashion.

"I think I am bettter as an atheist, and I won't upset anyone".....I am curious as to what you mean by this. I hope you are not abandoning Christianity for political correctness aka Cultural Marxism. In the end your beliefs are yours, but you have to understand where your parents are in all of this. I am not saying they are right, just hear me out though. Christian beliefs are if you believe you are saved and will be welcomed into Heaven, you will be with your loved ones for eternity. You just put yourself outside of that circle, and as their child this deeply hurts them. I am a Christian and also a father, the thought that my children may not meet me in Heaven is terrible. So just understand it is because they love you and are hurt by your decision. In the end it is your right, God gave you free will to not believe in him if you wish. Part of what makes him great. I predict you already have or are going to get a bunch of disrespectful atheist replies here, which is why I am stopping at your post. Read those and see what atheism does to you. Just sayin....

To be fair, your perception of Atheism seems very misguided, and all you have effectively done is threaten someone with some gruesome demise in order to sway them back into your cult. And then you admitted to abusing your children with the threat of hell, which is like telling them "If you do not behave or do as I say then you will burn in my oven for eternity". If you come out of your bubble one day, you'd understand where I am coming from, such parenting is very scarring. Please be a good person.

Just be who you are, and tell them that they have to accept you for that.

[QUOTE="Teetotal_Kitten"]

Humans are animals, you expected more from the naked ape?

Posters Disclaimer:

I would also like to note that despite the misanthropy of my opinion, I am infact a humanist.

I'm inclined to believe that you're a drone.

A drone? But in what definition?

1. The male of the honeybee and other bees, stingless and making no honey.

2. A remote control mechanism, as a radio-controlled airplane or boat.

3. A person who lives on the labor of others; parasitic loafer.

4. A drudge.
