I wouldn't mind it. I couldn't see removing the HD from the PS3 though, a lot of games require it. It's not like 80gb HDs cost all that much these days anyway. Even removing Wi-Fi wouldn't do much to lower the cost of the system. Last I saw it still cost around $450 to make one of the consoles, which is a great improvement from before, where it used to be over $800.
Anybody know if they switched to a smaller die size on the cell chip yet? I thought they were supposed to do that early last year but I never heard anything more about it. My only suggestion would be to put PS3 backwards compatibility back into the 160gb, its already $100 more than the 80gb, and it doesn't cost that much more for the HD.
Or at least add the extra USB ports and memory card slots back.
I have an original 60 so I can't complain much either way :).
We have 3 PS3s in this house anyway, I don't think we'll be buying more any time soon even with a price cut.
