This is a little misleading. It's not like these games are in English, so they're still not really worth playing in this format unless you both own a Switch and can read Japanese. You can find translations of these games playable on more devices in certain areas of the internet and jump through less hoops than you would to access these Switch ports.
@attirex: While I agree with your statement, COD4 was the whole package. Even though the single player was short, I think it was well worth the price of admission alone. Treyarch's campaigns are also at least as valuable as the MP modes, even with varying degrees of quality.
This seems like a bad idea, and critically so at this time. A rebrand at the exact same time a major competitor is trying to gain a foothold? With the only thing you really have going for you is brand recognition? And the name you choose is stupidly SEO unfriendly?
@hectorv: I did quite a bit of local film and stage acting a few years ago. I'm by no means an expert, but I might be able to provide some context. You're right in a lot of ways; acting with nothing to play off of is much harder. Some stage shows get done with minimal sets in a black room (black box theatre) and in my mind, that's the hardest and purest form of acting.
However, all TV/Movie acting is pretty much easy mode. You don't really need to memorize more than a few lines at a time, you act out a scene for multiple takes, and they take the best take. If something comes out weird on the best take, they can fix it with editing in post-production. If you're in front of a green screen, it is simultaneously harder and easier. It's more like acting in a black box, but a skilled editor and special effects team can make a bad performance look great. Just look at the Star Wars Kid edits from years ago.
@mogan: Totally agree. I'm not totally opposed, but I have no idea how they could make it work in a way that feels natural and in-universe. It's hard to imagine a Star Wars with hard cursing or blood and guts. It doesn't fit with the weaponry or language they use.
This seems pretty tone deaf. Canon is pretty ethereal in Silent Hill and any attempt at applying hard canon other than what has already been established (it is a resort town, there was a cult, etc.) seems like it would only limit where you can go with the series moving forward.
This is really valuable advice. I've been considering getting out of my current profession and becoming a blockbuster movie star. Now I know when I get that role, I should sign a contract for only one movie. That'll really give me a leg up during negotiations for the next one.
@chriss_m: Speaking in game development terms and not marketing like most public betas are, a beta build of a game should pretty much be feature complete, with the primary focus being squashing bugs. Public betas should generally be a portion or vertical slice of a game designed to feature the things they'd like to play test in a large scale environment for last minute fine tuning.
However, Diablo 4 recently went gold, which should mean the game is ready to ship and print to disc, but with with day one patches being the norm now, this really doesn't mean much either.
As for the stream, it looks like they'll be talking about things they learned from the beta AND about endgame content. The two aren't necessarily related.
@tbird7586: While the review has been updated to reflect issues with the PC version, I totally agree with you. If the score and bullet points are all you read, you're not making an informed purchase. That is the whole point of a review. Informing the consumer. They are literally telling us it is as good as the PS5 version.
