I see a lot of the same postings, just rewritten in different ways, so I thought I would give the topic a much different spin....

Sony could dominate, and I mean dominate, with two very bold moves....

1)  Buy EA

2)  Buy Ubisoft

They could do this either by stock trade, leverage their credit and sizeable holdings, hostile take-over, etc.  You then take the mammoth software holdings and make damn near most of them Sony exclusives.  This is especially true of everything Ubisoft.  Whatever you didn't make exclusive from EA on a PS3 you could, at the very least, keep most of the bonus and WoW features PS3 exclusive... forcing a very compeling reason for the XBOX and Wii owners to jump ship to the PS3 platform.

Sure there are other, and some would say, better companies Sony could buy.  The point, however, is to make a crushing blow to the rivals of Sony and to take the wind out of their sails right NOW.  Like it or not, if Sony bought EA and Ubisoft (hell even one of them would do) the hardware sales would go through the roof as the exclusives started pouring in.  After that, all the niche publishers with loyal followings would start publishing more and more Sony exclusive since that is where the money is going to be.

This would also not be the first time Sony has made moves to buy media companies.  They already own half of Hollywood.  They would also face little monopoly hearings from the government either.  There are plenty of software publishers out there and we are a country that just seems to loves the merging of giant companies all for the sake of profit.  At the end of the day, this is a business and Sony has every right to purchase any company they want....

The other option is to buy like 4-5 of the leading secondary choices.... Activision, Square, Epic, Capcom, Blizzard.....etc.  Either way, spend A LOT OF MONEY.

That's my two cents.....
