Spider-Man 3 Film Review *spoilers*

Ok, since I havent written to my blog in a while - and since one of the biggest movies of 2007 has just been released - I thought it was about time to coincide the two... So here it is: The-0ne's Spider-Man 3 review. Let me start of by saying that I'm quite a big Spidey fan, not the sort that has every single comic... But a Spidey fan nonetheless. I watched most of The Animated Series (TAS) and watched and enjoyed both Spider-Man 1 & 2 various times. Ever since the Spider-Man 3 release date was announced all the way back in 2004, I've been anticipating this film hugely... Which unfortunately, maybe this films biggest downfall. The amount of hype that surrounded this film (created by fans, casuals and critics alike) was massive. So massive that it was hard not to go into this film and think it was the be-all and end-all of movies. You see, if the hype I had built up inside me wasn't so huge I wouldn't have been let down so much. So heres the review... First off, the special effects. Spidey has always been known and respected for its advanced use of Special Effects. This film is definately no exception. Some of the CGI used in Fight scenes is mind blowing. Take the Battle Royale for example; you basically have 1 man thats been genetically enhanced by a Spider, 1 20 Story Sand Monster, 1 Angry Friend With Weapons and 1 blacker, stronger, faster, badder, more viscous Spider-Man all knocking Fifty kinds of **** out of each other. The end effect will Rock. Your. World. Unfortunately this scene is interrupted at the most innapropriate of times by none other than Sam Raimi's (Director) kids. Watch the film - you'll know what I mean. But yeah, Special Effects = Awesome. Now onto the Script/Story. Hmmm... Remember last Christmas when you ate so much at Lunch that you felt like your Stomache was actually going to rip? Yeah, thats what this film feels like. Theres too much going on at once. Theres the Peter/Mary-Jane story line, Sandman, Eddie Brock/Venom, Gwen Stacy (Hot, but seriously underused), Harry Osborn/New Goblin, Harry/Peter, Harry/MJ, Symbiote. It just seems very overcrowded. These stories aren't necassarily bad - in fact they're generally very well acted and played out. It's just that theres enough content here for 2 movies. I think the movie should have ended on a cliff hanger with Venom leaping at the screen after his transformation. Leaving a whole movie (Spider-Man 4) for his story, which is really what he deserves. This would have left more space for a better Sandman backstory. Ok, this little bugger gets a whole section of Marketing to itself... It also gets a review section of its own... Its... The Symbiote! Ever since we saw that first teaser poster with moody Spidey in his black costume, theories have been flying everywhere about where this black crap comes from... how it gets to New York... how it gets to Peter... and then how it gets to Venom. I can explain all this pretty simply. The Symbiote comes from space in a meteor... Lands near Peter (coincidence?) gets stuck to his bike... Then gets stuck to him... Here we have Black Suited Arrogant Peter - which I loved! The way he flirted with girls and became all cocky with JJJ was excellent, everyone in the cinema that I was in laughed their ass off to Peters "dance" down the street. Albeit the Jazz scene was a little too much. A huge gasp was let out when Peter knocked Mary-Jane to the ground though. This makes Peter realise the suit is evil... Blah blah blah, he rips it off at a church, it lands on Eddie and voila! Venom! *sigh* Venom. A fan favourite. A personal favourite. And all he was given was 5 minutes on screen. :| He NEEDS more time than that, sure, he was awesome in his 5 minutes... But I felt there really wasn't much purpose to him being there. Atall. *sigh* Connors has a piece of Symbiote though... So a fan can dream. Theres not REALLY much more I can add to this review. By no means is it a bad movie, atall! I was just slightly dissapointed... It's DEFINATELY worth a view. At least once. I didn't really unjoy it as much as Spider-Man 2... But it's still bloody good. So go, have fun, but don't set your expectations too high. That way, you'll enjoy it to its fullest.

Futurama is coming back!

...in 2008. Nonetheless this is amazing news. Comedy Central is going to air old episodes and at least 13 new episodes sometime in 2008. This is the second time a show has been brought back from the dead, the hilarious Family Guy was brought back at the beginning of the year and thanks to the popularity of the DVDs and re-runs Futurama is doing the same. Yes!
