Gears of War Release Date???

Recently on the official Xbox website, XBox.com, a release date for Gears of War was put up on the Gears of War page. This date coincides with the date posted up on EBgames.com. As of now the date is October 2, 2006. Could this be the official release date? Microsoft has not "officially" announced anything but I think that we are on the verge of this major announcement. For now I'm calling October 2 "Emergence Day" and marking it on my calender... If I had one.

EA + Wii = Sextuplets?

I couldn't resist guys! I had to post this.

The extreme innovation of what has come to be know as the Nintendo Wii has caught the eye of one of the leading developers in video games. None other than Electronic Arts. They have announced that they are bringing no more than six new titles to the Wii. Here's the list:

Madden NFL '07
Need For Speed Carbon
Harry Potter (unnamed)
Tiger Wood PGA Tour
SSX (unnamed)
The Godfather

This is good news for Nintendo fans... BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Yes, EA has also stated that more titles will be announced for the Nintendo Wii in the coming months. It looks like Nintendo is finally making a decent effort on securing good third party support. With these titles in addition to the other titles previously mentioned the Nintendo Wii which has come to be known as the underdog is well on its way to greatness!

Intel to ship new processors this July

Intel has finally come up with a new processor to challenge those that AMD has recently put out. They are called the Intel Core 2 Extreme and the Intel Core 2 Duo series. The Intel Core 2 Extreme series is the better and more expensive of the two and is better than the AMD chip by leaps and bounds. If you would like to hear more specifics, go HERE.

I know, I know this post isn't as long as I would liked it to have been but it is extremely late so if this doesn't satisfy you, click the link and read on! But you heard it here first!

Hey even Insomniacs have to sleep sometimes... right? :D

Things looking grim for the Playstation 3 chip

Yikes! More bad news on the PS3 Front! Read THIS and tell me that you are not worried...

Apparently a good amount of these powerful chips with 8 cores will not work with the PS3 because of "defective" cores. The PS3 needs 7 of the 8 cores in the chip to function. Unfortunately a good amount of the chips don't meet this qualification. Could this mean similar shortages to those of the xbox 360? If so, I definately cannot afford another campout. I'll have to sit this one out and wait until there are more on shelves. Say it aint so Sony! Say it aint so!

Announced Titles for the upcoming Nintendo Wii...

Here is a list of the planned launch titles for the nintendo Wii. Even if you're not a fan, you should check 'em out to see what the competition is cooking up. Here's the list:

Wii Sports
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Super Mario Galaxy
Excite Truck
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

My opinion: I hope that this isn't all that they plan to release on launch but this is all that I could find on their website... Some of the titles look pretty good. For example, Metroid Prime 3 and of course, the Legend of Zelda. Hopefully they can increase this lineup of games. However, with it's cheap price and different style of approaching video games, it might merit a buy from me. I'll try to keep you guys updated on any more information about the Wii but so far it's pretty slow.

LOTR:The Battle for Middle Earth II Demo now on the Xbox Live MarketPlace!

You heard it! The Battle for Middle Earth II Demo is on the xbox live marketplace as we speak. For those of you who have an xbox 360 with xbox live, go download this demo! You won't regret it, this is the first (Successful) real time strategy game on a console. The problem with past attempts was that it was terribly difficult to map all of the controls of a keyboard/mouse combo to one controller. Now EA has done it and if your new to real time strategy games, I reccomend that you go download the demo and learn how to play because you don't know what you're missing!

God of War 3?

This week, David Jaffe who is currently working on God of War 2 for the Playstation 2 recently posted on his blog a message in which he hints at a possible God of War 3. He states, "When you are making a game, you never really know if the game will turn out good enough to merit another one in the series, but after last week, I can say I am very confident of our chances to be able to complete the God of War trilogy." could this mean that there will be a God of War 3 on the Playstation 3? That is what it sounds like.

My opinion:
I never actually bought the origional God of War, but the way it is talked about it must be a hell of a game. I played it once in my local walmart and I got right into it. It sounds to me though, that it is a little early to be talking of another sequel to a game that isn't out yet. However, this does reveal that the story will not be wrapped up in God of War 2 so it is very likely that there will be a third installment and it will most likely be on the PS3. It seems a far ways away which is good for me because I won't have enough money for a PS3 at launch. Fans of the series can only hope that God of War 2 is good enough to earn itself another installment.

Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays!

Alright, this is a few days old but I thought I should post this anyways. This past Wednesday July 12th, Microsoft announced a 5 week promotion for the xbox live arcade called Xbox live arcade wednesdays. As part of the promotion, Microsoft will be releasing a new game for the xbox live arcade every wednesday for 5 weeks. Here is the lineup of games and the dates that they will be released:

Frogger - July 12th
Cloning Clyde - July 19th
Galaga - July 26th
Street Fighter II - August 3rd
Pac-Man - August 9th

My opinion:
I have never heard of the game Cloning Clyde, but the lineup looks pretty good nonetheless. I will definately be purchasing at least Galaga and Street Fighter. I might end up buying Cloning Clyde if I like the demo enough but I don't have enough cash to buy more than that. I will most certainly play the hell out of the frogger and Pac-Man demos too. My question is: Where's Mortal Kombat? I heard that they were making an arcade cersion of that too. Oh well, I'll have to play street fighter until I hear more. As of now I know that frogger costs 400 ms points while Street Fighter will cost 800 points. I suspect that Galaga and Pac-Man will also be 400 points but that is just a guess. I'm pretty excited about this promotion because they haven't really released that many games for the xbox live arcade and hopefully this batch of titles can grab some playing time.
