I would say yes. Most importantly to get the full story (Ezio's story is amazing), and also Revelations is a great game. After you beat Revelations, don't forget to watch Assassin's Creed: Embers.
Yea, the combat doesn't feel the same for me compared to the old ACs. It just felt so fluent back then, but they seem to have changed it a bit and I'm having a hard time getting used to it. Not saying their combat system is bad, but I definitely need some more time getting used to it. I was fine with the old system, I would have been happy if they kept it like that.
As for floating objects, I have encountered at least 4 or 5. There was a floating carcass, and a few floating guns. Also, I felt it started off really slow, but I know they need all that time to introduce the characters and tell the story so it is forgiven.
If you can get a steady 60fps with max settings on your PC, then I would suggest PC. If not then PS3, or 360.
I would say, if you have the time and money to invest, get all the ACs and play them in order. To experience the story first hand by playing the game is 100x better than just reading a summary or watching a recap video.
