In the video game business, there are 3 things that decide whether a game is successful or not:

# Sales.

# Reception from critics.

# Reception from gamers.

1. Sales - let's start here. Halo 3 has sold extremely well. It's at about 10 million, with sales of more than 3 million in 1 day and ~1.8 million in 8 hours This makes Halo 3 inordinately successful, but since all the haters claim that sales =/= quality, let's move on.

2. Reception from critics - well, what can we say here? 9.5 from GameSpot. 9.3333 across all reviewers = AAA+ title, highest-rated FPS this generation among critics. OK? Get it? SUCCESSFUL.

3. Reception from gamers.SURE, some people will say Microsoft payed GameSpot 1 billion dollars to give Halo 3 9.5, and that the game sucks. Well, what can we say here? 1.2 million played HALO 3 ONLINE within 24 hours and nearly 3 MILLION played it ONLINE in its first week. But did they grow tired? LOL! No. It was the MOST PLAYED game on Xbox Live in 2007 and 2008 and is destined to crush the competition this year! Also, over 1 BILLION matches have been played with about 64,000 years of playtime.

4. Halo 3 = successful. That's already proven. CRITICS LOVE IT, GAMERS LOVE IT, ITS SALES ARE EXCELLENT, whether you hate it or not. No exlusive FPS game comes close this generation.

5. So, if you hate Halo and only think it has its sales to be proud of, and read this thread, CONSIDER YOURSELF OWNED.

Although those bullshots were sort of funny, I cannot recomend Halo as anything more than a boilerplate shooter with balanced gameplay.

Leejjohno

LOL, those arent bullshots. those are real screen from ingame.

LOL No, those are screenshots FROM the game. The game's own screen shot feature touches them up. Halo is an SD game, why would it NOT have jaggies? It sure as **** does when I play it.

Exactly, those are pictures FROM IN GAME HALO 3. i bet u BELIVVE a halo fan made them by himself in Photoshop ROFL

Half Life has practically defined the FPS genre for nearly a decade...

Halo is a great game (especially the original) but did nowhere near as much as Half Life did for the genre as a whole.

For the record, any game is comparable to Halo. Killzone 2 as an example. Incredible game online and offline. IMO better than Halo 3. In terms of multiplayer online, Warhawk also outdoes Halo IMO. From a classic perspective I will never forget the System Link parties with my Xbox and Halo but, from a technical aspect, Killzone 2 and Warhawk are better, IMO anyway.

Left 4 Dead is a great game. Believe me, I play it constantly. But, again, has not done as much for the FPS genre as Half Life did. I'd say Left 4 Dead did more for Coop gaming in general than the FPS genre as a whole.

Puckhog04

lmao, so u dont care if you have fun? thats what its all about lol. left4dead is muc hfunnier than Half-life 2, which is better, isnt that what u seek entertainment ????
