Okay firstly before I get on to anything I am a Playstation fanboy. I own an Xbox 360 and play it quite often but Playstation has a special place in my heart and will forever be my favourite brand of console until the age of console gaming meets its inevitable end. What really grinds my gears is the people hating on Xbox One over the PS4...why? What is the basis of our desire to put down the users of another brand. We do this all the time, we put down people for driving a different brand of car, we put down people who like a certain brand of clothing. We make our opinions based on our own personal desire to know that we made the right decision, we are on the right team almost. Think of it as two football teams (or soccer if you insist on using the term), one fan will be in love with his team and worship everything they do whilst hating their rivals...but there is a fan on the rival team doing the exact same thing, loving everything his team do and therefore hating the rival team. They are exactly the same, neither team is doing anything right or wrong but simply going about their day to day business being hated by a set of people for not being a team they support. I was talking to a friend the other day when he gave me a perfect example of this; he said "Eurghh, I hate Newcastle" to which I replied "Why?" and he had no idea what to respond, it just ended up as "I dunno, I just do". This is seemingly what is happening with this console flame war, everyone hates each other because they want to know they have backed the right side to come out as the best seller or the console with the best exclusive or the one with the best graphics. All of these are irrelevant because at the end of the day, opinion is what matters. I know people who love Uncharted, I know people who hate it. I know people who love Gears of War, I know people who hate it (me included, personal opinion but I just find it very boring). We all have an opinion and whatever happens both consoles will be successful, the PS4 looks beautiful and has some incredible looking exclusives and so does the Xbox One. Both consoles will have 3rd party triple A titles designed for the lowest common denominator out of both of them, therefore graphics will not be an issue. Both consoles will allow not only our generation but a new generation of gamers to appreciate this art that we love and enjoy. We need to respect each other, we need to believe in the gaming industry as a whole and appreciate the art that we have available to us. I don't care if you go home and play PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS, Vita, OUYA, Mobile Games, hell I don't care if you go home and play pong! Appreciate gaming no matter what form it comes in, I am positive this next generation will be outstanding so lets just be grateful we are here to experience it and stop all this flipping conflict! Okay rant, and first blog post, over with. Game on folks!
