Ordered this for my daughter yesterday. I'm really looking forward to playing it with her. The Captain Toad levels in the Mario 3d were great.

Just kidding. I am glad that we got one for my daughter (after she got a scholastic award last year). Been having fun with the various Mario games and am looking forward to this. So glad that they got it right.

Funny you should mention Bioshock. The story was great. The shooter, not so much.

Looking at metacritic, GS is presently the outlier (with more reviews to come) with a 7.

I don't care too much about the rating, though. It sounds like the things that I am looking for are present, so I know I will enjoy this.

@advocacy I agree. Civ 5 vanilla is vastly different from G&K and BNW. There will be more functionality, play balancing and features added as time goes on.

@shalashaska88 I question this. He admits that in over 500 hours of Civ 5, he only finished 1 game. I'm not convinced he knows what he's talking about.

@DanielL5583 It's not the score in isolation that is curious, it is the score when compared to other games that received 7's and 8's.

@amiga499 I agree with your points. It's hard to take the review system seriously when it appears scaled to:

1. Platform

2. Genre

3. Series

When I look at other games that received a 7 here but are on different platforms or genres, I scratch my head. Is it truly comparable to Costume Quest 2? Or is it downgraded because it is not Civ 5. Is it worse then Persona 4 Arena? In both cases, I doubt it.

Gamespot should provide "no more tears" shampoo to all of the fanboys.

6 means "fair". It's more of the same, but is it really only a "fair" game? Less entertaining/interesting then most of the other games reviewed here? No. Watched my son play it for a while last night. It's a really solid game. He played the first two and loved them. This one is really cool as well.
