Well said. My friend, who did contracted QA for Infinity Ward at one point, said that those guys are so smart and they get everything so right the first time, that they really don't even have a use for a QA team. If anyone can make a solid PS3 version of a game, it's those guys.

Oh really? Doesn't take more than 256mb of memory? Riddle me this my friend...

Oblivion memory usage

Keep in mind that it was optimizations done to the whole gamebryo cell loading system that kept this number down for the ps3 version. So yes, available system memory was definitely a bottlenecking factor for Oblivion. That's not to say that it held it back. All it means is that the 360 is more flexible and therefore easier to develop for.

Again, you are dodging the issue left and right. The issue is, should dev complain about 256MB memory (be it system or graphics), and the answer is NO.

What you show there is just that the game is able to grab available memories as much as the machine affords to. But if your machine only has 256MB memory, it will still run fine. Don't believe me? Try reduce the system memory to 756MB and see how much oblivion grabs.

Dont argue with him, he just owned himself. PC games ask more specs than a console game. The reason is that in the PC they need more stuff running at the same time while on a console its dedicated entirely to the game.

PC games themselves do not ask for more specs than a console game. The OS is what needs the extra memory/processor clocks, and that fact is accounted for in task manager. Unmodified, a game does not use any more memory on a PC than it does on a console. All of the additional memory usage is accounted for. So no, infact I did not own myself.

I'll respect what you said Henry4th, but I sure ain't gunna get "taught a lesson" by this idiot...

Why would it be incorrect to say that there was only 256mb of memory to work with. They weren't allowed to partition it any way other than that. It was a 256:256 split no matter what. 360 on the other hand allows partitioning of that 512mb of memory to maximize efficiency, meaning that when they needed more system memory than video memory, they were allowed to do that, and visa versa. With the PS3 there was always a cap to work with. Even if you could minimize the utilized amount of video memory, it wouldn't give any sort of performance enhancement for the system half.

Think of it this way. Let's say a portion of the game took only 150mb video memory to run. On the 360 you'd have 362mb of memory left for system purposes, on the ps3 you'd only have 256mb. DUH.

I wouldn't say that. Bethsoft devs were pissed that they only had 256mb of memory to work with and an optical drive with a slower read time than a standard DVD. The only reason it runs better on the PS3 is because they install the entire game to your hard drive while you're playing. Essentially they create a 4.5gb cache. Not exactly the most ideal way to get things done, but it does indeed get the job done.

[QUOTE="Sephiroth228"]fast pased online rpg? I want a decent MMOFPS. Like go kill mobs with a gun and level up, get skills and stuff. Nc Soft makes unique games so they should do that. lol.DarkBunnie

Planetside.

Planetside was done by Sony Online Entertainment, not NCSoft. It is for this reason that I pray everyday for a Planetside 2 for PS3. That would be seriously awesome.

I'm with you. I just got an email back from Mark linking me to this thread on their official forums, in which they confirm that they will indeed support kb+mouse:

I also got this tidbit too:

"BTW the game is really rocking hard on PS3. It continues to get better and better as each day goes by. I am VERY excited that we're making a must-have PS3 game."

I've been playing it for maybe an hour or so a day for the past two weeks and im still not done with it. I think it's hard as hell. The guy who said it's trial and error is definitely right. I find myself playing ten minutes into a segment, then dying, then restarting that piece with the knowledge that some guy is gunna pop out around the corner. Earlier on, it's not so bad, but as I've been playing on, it's been getting harder and harder.
