Hindsight is 20/20, and Expensive

Ever take a look on ebay, see an item at a friends house, or just get an itch to play a game you traded in years ago, and think to yourself, "dammit, why did I ever get rid of that!"? Thats exactly where I find myself today folks.

I'm buying a new tele this week, taking the plunge into HD with a spiffy new Sharp Aquos 1080p unit that will reap the benefits of my PS3's capabilities. That said, I also decided to keep my old tele to be used with the other two consoles I own, the PSone and PS2 (What can I say, I've been happily living in PlayStation Nation since 1997).

Thus while I'm currently in the midst of getting properly equiped for the current generation of gaming, I've also been spending alot of time trying to re-unite myself with the remnants of my once proud PSone collection. Needless to say, when I made the jump from PSone to PS2, I was alot younger. I had to trade/sell a significant portion of my PSone collection to get my PS2, and looking back, I wish I hadn't. Not because the PS2 wasn't worth it, but because those items I traded in for paltry sums are now worth rediculous coinage, and re-aquiring them is proving to be quite expensive. Hindsight is indeed 20/20.

Long Story Short, I'm now trying to fill in the holes of my PSone RPG collection, and it feels like a kick in the groin every time I fork over $40-$100 to re-aquire a game I already owned. Some titles have actually cost me more to purchase used than they did when they were brand new (Suikoden II, Tales of Destiny, Valkyrie Profile etc)

So share with me folks, which titles (PlayStation or otherwise) have you gotten rid of that you wish you hadn't?

Here is my shortlist:

  • Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
  • Alundra
  • Persona 2
  • CastleVania: Symphony of the Night
  • Star Ocean: The Second Story
