I don't think the next generation of consoles should happen yet mostly because at the moment, most developers are making games at a loss because they are too expensive to make but don't sell enough to pay back the development costs. I mean, besides the most hardcore, who's going to fork out $300-$500 for a new system when first parties are still pushing their hardware and introducing new features for it. (case in point, SmartGlass and WonderBook)
I just feel that if developers create and push new hardware, we are going to end up with a second video game crash.
