Hey man if it works for what you need, let's play!!! That's my motto. I beefed up my pc a little bit, but not too crazy, as I too play console games. If I get some more spare cash I might just make my pc able to time travel. We'll see.

Both good points. However, I personally play different games for different reasons. Yes, some games I play because it feels like playing and interacting with a really good and sometimes very realistic looking book or movie. Other times, its the strategy involved in defeating fake and real life human opponents that hooks you. Other times, its the story and not the graphics in a RPG. Lastly, at times its the consequences of the realistic world revolving around this deep story that can only be overcome with strategic, logical, and precise thinking (and sometimes action) that really takes me to a far away place... if that makes sense.

Expansion Shivering Isles is a good idea if she hasen't played or heard of it. World of Warcraft is a good MMO but pretty addicting, has a monthly charge, etc. Fall out 3 does have the FPS part of it but its just toooooo good to miss if you've played and like Oblivion's engine.

Good call. If I had a bigger say in it, yes I'd go for something like an geforce 8800 or 9800 series GPU or an ATI 4800 series f possible IMO.

As others have stated, get at least 2 or 3 gb worth of ram nowadays. It is also true that ram is not the only thing to look at. A video card better than a geforce 8200 or ati hd 3600 series is a good idea too (check out gpureview.com). Dual core processor is a plus as well. You shouldn't have to worry about power for now if the pc's already built by the manufacturer like dell. DVD player is important because most games are coming out on dvd-roms now. Keep these things in mind, and grats on joining the REAL gaming community :).

In my experience, brand never mattered TOO much imo. However, BFG has been good to me, as well as EVGA and XFX.

Hello everyone,

I just have a quick question. I downloaded the COD4 Modern Warefare demo and was playing it on my pc for 5 minutes or so until the screen froze and I had to restart. Is my computer unable to play this game? I am also playing from my hard driv-no cd.

Your PC really should be able to play that game with absolutely no problem. I had a 8800 gts a few weeks ago and it did the same thing from time to time so I don't think it's your machine. My card wasn't having any trouble playing it, thats for sure. Anyway here I am...
