keep in mind I didnt bother reading the whole topic
ok, here's something i posted over at gamefaqs, if you dont want to read it, at least skim through the first few sentances in each paragraph. It's just a few common topics about why people think the psp sucks, but it really doesnt.

1) The psp is not as fragile as you may think. I dropped mine while I was riding bike on a sidewalk. Nothing happened to it at all, with the exception of some very small scratches near where you put your headphones in.
but still, it's not very fragile, if you were to play one you would understand. Dont use the fragile thing as an excuse for not wanting one, cuz anything will break if you drop it from a certain height.

2) PSP COST- yes, the psp costs $250, but that IS a reasonable price believe it or not. Yes you may be paying an extra $50 for some extra crap you may or may not use, but sony just wants to make sure that people who just pick it up and don't have all those extra things like headphones, and memory sticks etc.
The price of the psp is a reasonable excuse if your <14 (i'm 13 and I'm not complaining), or are married with children.

3) memory stick cost- you can easily find a 512 mb for less that 50 dollars, and a 1 gig for less that 100, 75 if your lucky. expect the prices to get lower in the future.

4) THE SCREEN- almost all lcd type screens have dead pixels and stuff. Do you have a laptop? There is a very good chance you have at least one deadstuck pixel. You just dont know because it's not hyped like psp dead pixels are. and don't complain that ur not gonna get a psp cuz of dead pixels, because if people woulndt have mentioned them, there is an 85-90% chance you wouldnt even have noticed them.
The screen can get scratched easily, but that is from always wiping the dirt off, when you move the dirt, it scratches the screen. Just get a screen protector, they are cheap, and easy to put on. You dont even notice them. If you are careful when you wipe your screen, or have some black magic wax, you wont need a screen protector.

5)The features- The extra features it has is not what makes it very expensive. You think it costs a lot for something just to play music? no, sound is necessary for games, and the mem stick has the space. The psp plays picture, doesnt it? then why not be able to play video from your memory stick or a umd? You must be a fool if you think these extra features are what make the psp cost so much. Do you know why some ipods cost so much? because the hdd is huuuuge, and some can have pictures/video.

6) webrowser/updates- You say the web-browser isnt useful, and your probably right. but what if your on vacation and dont have a computer, or a cousins, or people are on the computers? It's just something extra, dont complain about how it sucks.
You can save pictures and video from the internet, and thats pretty handy.

7) BATTERY- Unless youre going on a long trip, you should be fine, but even then, chances are you have a cell phone, and a lot of people have cell phone chargers for the car. Just use that (I dont know about new phones though, they might use something different). It takes less that 2 hours to charge, and the battery is fine. My gameboy color lasted 5 hours, and it used two AA, but did I complain?
