if you don't know how to use Linux, then don't install it on your PS3. Linux unlike Windows (I am not debating which OS is better :) ) is not very user friendly. you need some experience to use it well. The last time I used Linux was back in school ( couple of years ago), and it wasn't very friendly specially when it comes to installing USB type stuff, mounting and unmounting disks...etc. I'd keep the current PS3 OS. I'd would think Linux is usually installled by programmers, like me, to play around with the Cell processor by writing code. If you want to do that, then go ahead otherwise keep the same OS. Your post suggests that you are not familiar with Linux and neither you're a programmer, so I suggest to keep it simple with the default OS.

warhawk is not a shooter, but definitely a great game to get. If I was to pick another shooter for you, I would pick Rainbow six vegas, one of the best tactical shooter on the PS3. Online is also great. check out the review for it on GS. I personally have not played graw2, but I played the demo and did not like it that much.

this is a very hard question to answer. It all depends on your uses for the system and what do you want to do with it. The PS3 is an awesome system with great features like blu-ray, built in wireless, support for up to 7 controllers....etc. also there are some great games coming out for the PS3 that you will want to play specially around xmas time. The Library for PS3 games will be awesome by XMAS plus all the incredible games that will come out in the first three months of 2008 like littleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, MGS4, and GT5. Great exclusivec games on the PS3 already include Resistance, MotorStorm, Heavenly Sword, WarHawk, Lair, and others coming out real soon like Uncharted, UT3..etc. I think you should definitely get one if you can afford it.

it's funny how all these people say that the PS3 has no AAA games, what happened to NGS that scored 9.0 on GS and 9.3 on IGN, that's an AAA title, isn't it? The PS3 hasn't even been out for a year yet and it will only be out a full year in two regions Japan and America in Nov. IT HAS NOT BEEN OUT FOR A FULL YEAR in many countries until March of 2008 people!!!!, so just chil and give it sometime.

I don't think that every single multiplat game was better on the 360. the Darkness was scored the same on both platforms and Oblivion was better on the PS3 or the same. It's just a matter of getting the developers to develop the game first on the PS3 then port it over to the 360 instead of doing the opposite. It won't take long though I hope

As everyone knows, Epic has butted heads with Microsoft on several occasions over the last few years. First, it was because Epic wanted the Gears of War maps to be free. Then later, MS got into a hissy fit over user mods in Unreal Tournament 3, something that Epic is very enthusiastic about pushing, and MS cannot stand since in their minds it threatens microtransactions. Also, Epic made a sweet deal with Sony where they would optimize the Unreal 3 engine for PS3, release Unreal Tournament 3 as a timed exclusive, and make a new exclusive IP for PS3, supposedly on the same level of awesome as Gears of War. And ontop of that, Epic is being sued by one of Microsoft's other second parties, Silicon Knights. MS is in a position where they could play peacemaker between Epic and Silicon Knights, but they are currently doing nothing. I'm sure Epic isn't none too happy about that.

Obviously, Epic is not particularly loyal to Microsoft, even though they did publish Gears of War. Epic is independent, and they can basically have anyone publish their games that they want. So that leads me to wonder-- conflicts of vision with MS, recent favors for Sony and multiplatform support across all three powerhouse consoles (360, PS3, and PC)... Is it possible that Epic's partnership with MS might end in the near future? And what could this mean for Gears of War 2? Despite what some people have said, it's Epic who owns the Gears of War franchise, not Microsoft. Microsoft published Gears of War 1, so they technically own that title, but not the IP itself. In theory, if Epic left MS, it wouldn't necessarily put Gears 2 in danger, because Epic could take it with them and have say, Midway publish it instead. But, that would also mean that Gears 2 could very likely go multiplatform.

Agh, there goes my diahrreah of the keyboard. I am probably making a mountain out of a molehill, but I do find it odd that Epic has gotten cozy with Sony after their disputes with Microsoft, and that we've heard no news at all about Gears of War 2, even though Gears of War is freaking huge. In any case, I'm keeping my eyes on 2008 to see what goes down.

Timstuff

One thing I noticed about you is that you actually have a solid opinion, but you come here to say it among all these blind supporters of Microsoft which are just a bunck of kids that live in their own world and have nothing else to say but to accuse you of being a cow ...etc. Other than that, it seems that your pointsare pretty realistic.

so what system do i get the 60gb or 80gb and then what game is best. ive played oblivion on my 360 so i dont want that. i was thinking either resistance, the darkness, or wait for madden (which i havent heard a thing about)nofear1080

First, congratulations on you PS3. I would say get the 60GB because of its BC. You can definitly use the EE chip to play some awesome PS2 games like God of War 1 and 2. Second, if you geta PS3, make sure you get Resistance. if you are into arcade racing, I would say pick up Motostorm, I absolutely love this game, and playing it on line never ever gets old. also if you're into shooters and have not picked up Rainbow six on your 360, then get it for the PS3 because it has more maps than the 360 version. Also Ninja Gaiden is pretty good I heard, but I personally don't own it and never played it. good luck.

trade in your ps2 for a 60gb ps3 model. the 60gb model has the EE chip in it that will play 98% of your ps2 games (that's if you live in America), so no need for a ps2 in my opinion. Also the 60gb harddrive is upgradeable and is very easy to upgrade without voiding the warranty. some people on here have a 250gb harddrive, so I'd say trade it in if you can get some good money out of it or sell it on ebay.

Lemmings are owned on this thread. Seriously guys, xbox360 has good games, but what good is a Ferrari if it can't make it to the gas station, lol. I mean the three rings of death is one thing, but dvd drive problems too, come on Microsoft. I don't think I'll be getting a 360 anytime soon, I am going to wait till they get their act together and fix all these problems. The system is absolute junk.
