[QUOTE="adam_53"]im new to this whole HDTV thing, with all the resolutions and numbers, and im about to buy a ps3 but im worried. i have a hitachi s500 series bigscreen, and it says it supports 1080i and 7-whatever-p. if wen i buy the cable, will it scale it down games resolutions like ive been reading? will my games play in high defintion? i dont really plan to use it as a blue ray player. more ova game machine. playstation_wii
Get component cables. Don't get hdmi since your tv only supports 1080i.
I don't see why he shouldn't get an HDMI cable even if his Tv doesn't support 1080P. HDMI is the way to go I believe.

I've had my PS3 for quite some time now, and absolutely nothing has happened to it, and runs like honey. I actually take with me when I travel so it gets its share of beating and still the system is just built to last. I never heard anything about PS3's having too many problems.
Man, these are horrible speeds. I myself have internet service with AT&T. 19.99 for 1.5MBPS which is just perfect for everything. you can actually pay a little more and 6MBPS for 34.99 with At&t. The fastest internet in the US that I know of is TimeWarner cable, 15Mbps for about 54 dollars. I hope the japenese dont see these numbers because they will literarly laugh at us, We invented the freaking Internet, yet in Japan 80% of the population can connect to a 100Mbps line and the average Internet speed is 33Mbps. Anyway, At&t works great for me at 19.99. check them out if they're available in your area.
congratulations man. I already own a PS3, but was thinking about picking up a Wii, what do you think? I was thinking I can get my wife into video gaming a little bit.
It's actually not old news to me, it was first at amazon right after the price drop fora few weeks then went back to 2nd place behind the wii, then slipped to 3rd behind the amazing PS2, but now It's seems to be have come back to #1. this is indicative of strong sales for the PS3.
It's powerful because of the Cell Processor, don't you know that already? Please don't listen to the fanboys on this site. The GPU for both systems are about equal, but the CPU is way more powerful on the PS3. As for the games, the multiplateform games usually get developed on the 360 then get a crappy port to the PS3. It has nothing to do with actual system. why is it always that you guys measure a system by its graphics and whatnot where you know that it just got more development time. Oblivion certainly looks better on the PS3 which tells you that Multiplatform games could be better on the PS3, it's just that developers have to take their time developing for it. the Multiplatform games look better on the 360 because they get more attention, that's all. It's not because they couldn't as good on the PS3 :).
