We should all worship and celebrate the penis once a year like the Japanese. They know what's up.

Well it was important enough for the Emperor to have a genocide wasnt it?

SonKev

Did he order the genocide when he was born? Seems pretty useless to order a genocide on a whim without knowing that a powerful political figure would be born.

[QUOTE="The_Ish"]Probably because he was nothing to the Roman Empire, or anything or anyone of any historical importance when he was born.foxhound_fox

They had access to the Roman dating system and records and you would think that this guy was important enough for them to actually record his month of birth even, no?

No.

Think of it this way.

You're part of the Roman Empire. Not just a part, you're a citizen. And a scholar at that. You live in Rome. What are the most important things going on that year?

Some wars, new decrees by the Emperor, gladiator battles, world events and such, no? You're a scholar after all. I mean, as a scholar, why would you care to record the lives or birthdays of the common people? They don't matter, especially when it's a Hebrew kid born in what could barely be called a shack.

[QUOTE="SonKev"]And it doesnt matter which day we celebrate Christs birthday on, we could do it everyday of the year (He well deserves it) but thats not the point. ITs the day we celebrate His birth, no one knows the exact day of year...obviously.

All that matters is that He was born.

foxhound_fox

We know when Julius Caeser was born: July 13th, 100 BCE. That's one hundred years before the argued birth of Jesus... and even the date of his death is up for debate. We have the man who ruled Rome's exact date of birth and death... both of which came before Jesus... why is it so hard to pinpoint his birth?

Probably because he was nothing to the Roman Empire, or anything or anyone of any historical importance when he was born.

I'm agnostic, but I celebrate Christmas. It's an institutionalized, corporate holiday, so I don't see anything wrong with seeing my friends on that day.
