@Haeravon @The_Roland I agree with you in that I also support non-DRM whenever I can, but sadly that not happening with most games. But if you are such a principle driven person, then don't buy overpriced console games, don't buy games that have DLC, dont pay for multiplayer. However, you do. So, don't lecture me about principles. And yes, some games DO need you to update your dashboard in order to function, didnt say it happened to me yesterday, but it happened.
@Haeravon You know, I was taking your reply seriously until the goat sacrifice thing. Then it all fell apart. Its ok if you dislike Steam for your personal reasons even if you dont like the colors, the logo, or Gabe Newell's face, I really dont give a damn. But dont come here and say I dont like Steam because of DRM, DRM is bad! ill go play with my console... because, you know... Your Console is your DRM! Your console have systems that check if your game is not a copy, so, basically, they are treating you like a criminal anyway, whats more, some games on the current generation wont work until you apply a mandatory dashboard update, wich I sadly found out having my x360 not connected to the internet, so, If I hurt your feelings of hippie console freedom, you can go cry in the bathroom.
@Gamernametaken @The_Roland @Haeravon You are right, and we can only hope this generation sees more pc ports. About the internet, I understand that there are places where the internet is difficult. However, Steam lets you play offline. I understand that even if you buy a retail copy you have to "unlock" it once on steam, and while I don't agree with that I also don't think many companies are willing to go the GOG route and offer their games DRM free. But after this activation you can play offline and even backup your game.
@Haeravon @Gamernametaken Well, Obviously you are a console gamer out in the cold looking through a window an thinking you dont need that warm fire Steam provides. I can tell you friend, steam is the best that could have happened to gaming. You see, the problem is not the used game market, the problem is that you, as a console gamer need it to survive. Nobody complains about Steam on PC, why would they? when you can buy the latest games 50% off on weekends, have sales where I can buy AAA games for 5 bucks, discount packs for me and my friends. I have an X360 too, but I get all the games I can on pc for that reason, sadly we have to put up with the exclusives on consoles,
@Ravenlore_basic @Ripper_TV What the hell?? how does this has to do with anything? Yeah the first xbox let you use any retail HDD while the PS2 used a propietary one. Blue Ray and HD-DVD are 2 propietary disc formats, it only happens that blue ray won the competition due to mostly to the fact that the PS3 came with a blue ray player, which was at the same price as an HD-DVD player, and that sony also controls a major television and movie studio. And about PSN+ vs Xbox Live what is the difference, price? you could argue that XBL gives better service though. However, I believe multiplayer should be FREE, like on PC. Why doesn't sony make the full service for free if they are so nice and good? I disagree with both companies on that regard. About Blu-tooth... I sincerely dont give a damn, Xbox 360 controllers work on my xbox as well as on my pc so why should this make any difference?
@hitheredudeeee Just Don't. Wait a little, play all the good games still left on your 360 while you see how this next-gen develops. Don't get caught in the hype. Who knows, you might end up buying a Steam Box!
@Ravenlore_basic @lost2bfound Um... didn't a Xbox Exec said that you could basically plug any external HDD and use it just like the internal drive? if your comment regarding this is about aesthetics I understand, otherwise, its just the same. About online fees, how do you feel about Playstation Plus? I think they are doing ONLY what is best for them, to win this launching race, nothing more.
@Banhammered1 No, I don't think I'm really smart, but I think people like Tom McShea think I'm really dumb. Corporations WILL dispose of good customer relationship as long as they can get away with it and make profit. Look at DRM, Online Passes, DLC, Damn, look at outsourcing in general!
@lost2bfound True, I agree. But one thing is to realize that and another is to think they have become the white knight of gaming. They are doing it for an advantage not beacause they think is the right thing to do. And, as I said, once they become the no. 1 console we'll see how much of that altruism is left...
