"I have started to collect games but i have no clue what games to get."

Well then you haven't really started yet, now have you...

And in all honesty, this is the worst way to get into game collecting. It should start out by you waxing nostalgic about your favorite gaming memories from years past, and then you going out and attempting to track down all the favorite games that you lost over the years...

Just try and get a hold of all your favorite games, then fill in the blanks for the games that you always wanted to play... Don't just buy 'rare' games just because some online website says they are collectible--that's stupid...

And if you come from the 'new school' of gaming, where your earliest memories of video games are from like the 32-bit era (PSX, Saturn, N64) then collecting video games is pretty unneccessary for you...

NES- Got so frustrated with blowing in the machine and game, and them still not playing, that I slammed it so hard it busted (I was probly like 9-10)...

Genesis- Original one eventually just stopped working, and the I bought a Sega Genesis 3 (the small one)... Still have that and it works...

PSX- Original just stopped working. Eventually got a new one. Then just got a PS2...

Saturn- Let my friend borrow it for more than a month. When I went to get it back from him, he told me his basement flooded and it got destroyed, along with a few games, including Xmen- Children of the Atom... In retrospect that hurts hard (Xmen:COTA is worth alot now)... Eventually got a new Saturn, still own it and it works...

Dreamcast- Let another friend (more of a freind of a friend) borrow it for extended period of time with a few games. Went away to college, lost contact with friend, heard years later from a friend of a friend that he sold it for 80 bucks... Still pissed at that to this day, never saw the kid again... Had to buy a new DC on ebay for 40 bucks, along with the couple games I lost...

N64- Still kickin...

PS2- Still kickin...

GB/GBC/GBA- No clue, those things just kind of disappear on me somehow...

my first game ever was "Super Mario Bros. 1" for the ORIGINAL Game Boy (the huge clunky one with the green screen). I got it for Christmas when I was 5, with SMB1, tetris, and bugs bunny's castle (or something like that)....

My absolute rarest and most valuable... Probably my mint copy of "Border Down" for Dreamcast. Regularly sells for $150+ on ebay...

Some others would be Marvel vs Capcom 2 (DC) and the MvC2 strategy guide (which i've seen go for $125 on ebay in mint condition). Ikaruga for my DC is pretty rare as well... Pretty much my library of DC games in general is pretty rare and valuable...

Dreamcast is the way to go by far if you are comparing those two systems.

But the real question should be, DC or PS2... DC is in the same generation as PS2, and is a generation ahead of the PSX (the Sega SATURN would be the PSX equivalent)... And the answer to that question, for me at least, is DC over PS2 hands-down...

So like I said, if the choice is between PSX and DC, its a no-brainer...

i can verify for you that a 'Gameshark Lite' will boot most japan import DC games on a US DC successfully. I actually just bought one recently and a copy of Ikaruga for my DC, and it boots it up for me fine. And it only cost about 8 bucks, and its a working gameshark as well, so thats always cool to have...
