My First Blog Ever ^.^ - BORDERLANDS

3 days go i pre-ordered Gearbox's Borderlands from Amazon.co.uk, with the expectations that it would arrive on monday or tuesday of next week thanks to the idiotic UK postal strikes. Surprisingly it came this morning, much to my joy :) prior to preordering, i had spent many an hour watching gameplay on justin.tv and looking up all the skill trees and attributes possible. I had been planning on using this weekend to work out once and for all which class i would choose to be first, but that option was smothered due to its early arrival.

So i started up the game, really undecisively, choosing the Hunter class (sniper). I fretted whether i should have started up with the more obvious soldier class, or go for the uber-cool Siren, but about 3 hours in im quite happy with my choice, although im sure i will be replaying this game many a time with the other types.
The sweet candeh gold loot is a real joy to see littering the floor everytime you wipe out a mob of bandits, and i personally adore weapon collecting and ordering, looking up all the stats and percentages. The Hunter is a capable marksman with a sniper, and prefers a revolver as a secondary weapon, and with a lot of Call of Duty 4 sniper training i quickly got used to the slightly clingy movement of the crosshair. The 'pet' Bloodwing is a handy friend to have when reloading, as it provides a slight distraction and a secondary attack while you can be out of sight.

Gearbox's developers certainly have a good sense of humour, with the characters all bringing some laughs to the game.
One slight problem i have is that, because of the missions all be labelled with certain skill levels to be at when taking them, some can 'overlap' in a way. For example, at the moment i unlocked the mission to kill 2 fearsome Skags of level 16ish, which i cant handle yet, but at the time i was doing another mission, somewhat past the skag quest on the map, so im left making a dashing run past the skags fearing for my life, to access the other quest, leading to a waste of health and ammo. Other than that so far i have seen one flaw, in which 'Claptrap' the hilarious robot doesnt initialize the next set of dialogue, and just stood fixed where he was as if waiting for something, when everything was completed. i re-loaded the gamesave and he carried on as normal, but so far that is all i've seen on glitches.

There will be more blogs to come soon on Borderlands, and possibly Brutal Legend, whether i purchase the game or not
