Still going!

It's been a few months since the last update.  ;)

Been tearing my way through Oblivion on the 360 as well as Dead Rising.  Since my Windows box went bottom up over a month ago, my 360 is what's keeping me grounded, gaming-wise.

I'm all set to drop the cash for Gears of War (as well as a snazzy wireless headset).  But otherwise I probably won't be buying another title until Lost Planet comes out (January).  Thankfully I'm all set up with gameaccess.ca to rent my titles (Canadian version of Gamefly).

And as per usual, I spend most of my forum time over on Evil Avatar and it's various iterations.  So fire me a PM there if you're looking to get ahold of me.

My new addiction.

Checking my last entry. It seems I haven't posted since I grabbed my 360 back in April.

I can sum up my 360 purchase by saying I have zero regrets. The system is great and I've enjoyed the selection of games thus far. For a launch machine, it's performed admirably.

Lately I've just been stuck in Geometry Wars. Though UNO, Frogger and DOA4 have all been getting some good play time.

Thankfully I've been MMO free for some time now, and I've decided I really never want to go back to them. I simply don't have enough time in my day. While I find a new appreciation for the Xbox Live Arcade titles, that I can play for short bursts and quit when I want to.

My only issue of late is that I keep receiving disk read errors on my copy of Oblivion (I went through 2 pre-owned ones before, which could barely even load, this one is a new copy and can go 20 minutes before it chokes). At this point I'm starting to think my 360's laser must have a problem, but I've yet to experience any issues with other titles. Very strange.

Last but not least I've set up my 360 blog here:

I get away from WoW, only to fall into Oblivion.

It seems to be getting to that point where they need to make these all-engrossing games illegal. GTA3? WoW? Oblivion? C'mon! Give a guy a break for awhile. Thankfully I'm all done with San Andreas, and managed to finally cancel my WoW account (at least until the expansion).

Aside from pointing out (obviously) how Oblivion is a fantastic game everyone should be playing right now, I'm glad to say I'm still without a 360. I'm trying to refrain from picking one up until the late summer when I can finish off saving up cash for other things I need to be doing right now, as well as wanting a version 2 of the box with more bug-free hardware (and just to see if I have the willpower to make it that long without buying one).

I've also been spending an enormous amount of time lately posting in the Evil Avatar forums, since it's that time of the year again (having GDC and now E3 coming up) to discuss changes in the industry. If you get a chance, check out evilavatar.com (or at the very least the podcast, which you can subscribe to on iTunes).

It's been awhile.

Well, it was a great summer (since it wasn't playing WoW through the whole thing and managed to get outside instead). Now with word of the expansion pack and the fall weather settling in, I've signed back up. Though surprisingly I'm only playing it maybe one night a week, looks like the addiction issue been kicked.

I finally got my Sony hookups as well in the last few months, picked up a PSP for that emulation goodness. Then, just last week I finally cracked when I saw the PS2's price was down to $170 Canadian, grabbed one (and Shadow of the Colossus to boot). So I finally own every console/portable of this generation.

Looking towards the 360 though, I'm tempted to wait until spring when the rumored first price drop will happen. Of more importance to me though is that it'll be a later release of the console, likely to have worked out any production hardware bugs that the first batch will get. As well, it gives me more time to save for a proper HDTV to play it on.

Currently all my money is also being saved towards a trip to Japan, most likely in February. I'm trying to make sure I have enough to do some mad shopping while I'm there (and I know the trip itself is going to be a few grand). If anyone knows any place I should visit on my trip there, just drop me a line.

Busy busy busy. Now 100% World of Warcraft free!

I've finally pulled myself out of the pit of WoW. Cancelled my account, promised myself I won't go back until the first expansion pack is released.

Once I found myself suddenly with all this free time (wait....you mean, there's another 8 hours of the day where I'm not sleeping or working?), I've easily found myself plowing through my backlog of console games. Finished off Psi-Ops, Legacy of Kain: Defiance and Psychonauts in the last week (now only have Ninja Gaiden, Riddick and Paper Mario 2 to get through). Among having time for non-gaming related things once again.

It's really hard to believe there was a time in my life when I didn't have Meteos. That game is the new Tetris, swear to god. I find myself picking my DS up and just playing 10-20 minutes of it all the time now (which is beautiful, because I just close it when I need to stop and it awaits me in sleep mode for next time). That game alone is worth the purchase of a DS.

Anyways, not too much else gaming related I can think of right now. I'm interested in getting a flash cart for my DS to play around with the homebrew stuff out lately. I've finally got a SNES on the way thanks to eBay (sold my original one years ago, like a fool). Oh, and I'm still counting the days until the PC version of Advent Rising is out (with the hope that the delays were due to them fixing all the issues from the Xbox version, and making this copy a fantastic game the way it was meant to be).

Dang imports.

Went on a lik-sang.com binge again after my credit card limit got raised. Ended up ordering the Dreamcast Hardcore Pack and Electroplankton for the DS. Can't wait.

Haven't touched WoW since the honor system was implemented (I got tired of the griefing after the first few days of it).

Lately I've been playing through Psychonauts, Metroid Prime 2, Minish Cap and Donka Konga (of all things). Just getting myself mentally prepared for the E3 hype-fest coming up. Can't wait to see the new systems.

Anyways, no more time to post, just wanted to get an update in.

It's been awhile.

Quite some time since I last updated. I've been busy with work, Warcraft and my DS (not necessarily in that order).

Nothing too exciting as of late, got my mount in WoW, made it to level 47 and now I'm having overheating issues with my processor (which WoW causes my entire box to reset). So I'm taking some time off from it to fix that issue.

I spent some time with Republic Commando on the PC a few weeks back, it's a great little title that could have been exceptional if the multiplayer had been as good as the single. People said it was too short, but it worked out just right for me, personally.

Right now I've just been killing time with Yoshi's Touch and Go while I await E3 in all it's glory. Currently have Jade Empire and Still Life pre-ordered at EB, those should be coming in next month. Saving up some cash right now for a new TV as mine has become so dark it's almost impossible to see most of my Xbox games anymore.

Still have yet to really get into Mario Sunshine or Metroid Prime 2. I'm also currently sitting on the final stage of Resident Evil 4 and the last world of Paper Mario 2. But I just can't get myself in the right mood to finish them off at this point. There also just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day as of late.

Anyways, that's it for now, I'll try to post some reviews in the next week or two when I get a chance. Unfortunately, I've been spending more and more time just posting my thoughts on Evil Avatar.

Why I've been MIA.

World of Warcraft. It's been pretty much all-consuming for the last few weeks. I'm finally about to hit 40 sometime tomorrow, once that happens I'm going to take some time off away from the screen.

I'm pretty much taking a few weeks away from gaming, so I'll be back sometime in late February. So take it easy!

Counter on the main page?

Can't seem to find anything about this in the forums, anyone know what that counter is ticking down to on the gamespot front page?

It's a 6 hours or so to go right now. Weird.
