I've been meaning to replace my lumbering old box for a while now and then came across thissite. Is it worth having a goon one of these auctions, or do you think its better to avoid and pick up a deal somewhere else online?

I wouldn't mind a Mario Kart Arcade machine! That would be great fun.

Otherwise a copy of Planescape Torment, a game I dearly love and lost years ago.

Total impulse buy. A mate of mine had got one and was raving about it, and then we were in the duty free area at some airport about to fly about to Amsterdam and he was playing his PSP, and then I was in Amsterdam with a shiny new PSP. PSPenis envy, perhaps. I guess his raving sold it to me as all of the above, if you push me.

championship manager 3. Because it ate my life and I respect any game that can make me care about it more than girlfriends, food and sleep.

A portal spell.

Ahem.

Loads of good ideas here. I loved Morrowind, less thrilled with Oblivion. No voice acting, more dialogue, more responsive dialogue - I still consider Planescape the ideal here. I'd like my dialogue options to mean something more often. Also I'd like more change over time - if a fort gets ruined in a werewolf attack I want to see it being repaired, new bits being up when I return after a month of killing wolves in the tundra.

Improved combat would be good too - either like Morrowind where your improved skills actually helped you kill stuff or by making the combat more reliant on player skill and not stats.

Slug is a fiend alright, all of them. Loads of attention goes into making each stage of each level a real challenge. Then again I love having a beer and a smoke and just rampaging through it with my brother and some mates and infinite continues. To play it well you really have to remember a lot of each level and treat each bit of it as a bullet-riddled puzzle. Love Slug 2.

I struggle to choose between Scott Tennerman Must Die and Woodland Critter Christmas. Its awesome when they really press home evil and twisted Cartman is.

Gotta say System Shock 2 is definately the most scary game I've played. The atmosphere that is built up is incredible. The guy who mentions the Marine campaign in AVP2 is spot on - that game has probabyl caused me more moments of desperate fear for my life than any other. One beep from the scanner is all it takes to get you going.
