Well, Vista can be a bit heavy on the system with less than 2GB of RAM installed, and specially for gaming if your video card is integrated, because most of them use system RAM to work, thus, in the end you're not really with 1GB (if your card takes up 256MB), but with 768MB. I also go with everyones suggestion, a 8800GT and another 1GB stick , or even take the one you have and get a dual channel kit to make sure everything works fine.

Same thing with the FSB speed, Core 2 6000 series have 1066MHz FSB while Pentium Dual Core E2000 series only offer 800MHz FSB, that may have some impact on the performance as well. I don't think a $80 CPU can get too close to a near $200 CPU, but nice price/performance ratio though.

8800GTX is already out for nearly 2 years and it still can run majority of the games at max settings.

SSJBen

Sorry SSJBen, the 8800GTX was released just a year ago, iirc it was released midst October, early November, aaand Crysis is something you should not consider for benchmarking, as imho crytek thinks playing games at less than 10FPS is reasonable lol (Minimum requirements = 6800GT anyone?). Anyway, I have a 7950GX2 and I run most of the games games released in the past 3 months @ full settings, or at least on high. But yeah, I agree with SSJBen, 8800GT offers you a great performance for a low price, that'll surely last you for at least a couple more years if you don't mind playing on mid-low settings in the future.
