The game that filled my childhood for more than two years is finally given recognition in a large sense. This is a game that is largely responsible for bringing strategy games into the mainstream. Sure Command & Conquer was there at about the same time but this game really pushed the genre into the US. Japan already had made this transition with the widely popular Fire Emblem series, but it had yet to really impact the US in a broad sense. If it weren't for the influence of Warcraft most games such as Age of Empires would not have been such big hits state side if Warcraft had not paved the way.
