Im sure that a few of you are aware of Gamestop's shaddy buisness practices but for the rest of you here some info:

GameStop Sells Played Games As New, Sources Say, Practice Could Be Illegal

Gamestop allows its employees to take brand new sealed games out of their packages, take them home and play them, and then bring them back to be sold as new (full price) to the a customer. If a customer asks why it is a "gutted" copy, they will be told that its a display copy. Its likely that the "new" game you just bought it used and not a display copy. And yes this is an official Gamestop policy.

Your GameStop "Reservation" is Meaningless

Gamestop could give a **** about you reserved copy. They will sell your (reserved) copy if its a hot item and in high demand.

The EDGE Card you bought is crap

If you buy the EDGE card you might as well as throw your money away. Lets do the math, you buy a game for lets say $26.99 used and use your EDGE card, you will have saved $2.699 and paid it for a total of $24.291. Heres the thing, you would have to spend $174.291 to have saved $2.699 given that you buy your games at $24.291. Why? Because you spent $15 on the EDGE card so until you spend $174.291 your losing money. Even if you bought your games at $54.99 you need to spend $164.97 to BREAK EVEN! Why you would want to buy a used game that might not even come with a booklet or case to save a less than $5 is beyond me. The math above doesn't even include tax!

If you say but i get Game Informer free then your right but an idiot. Game Informer is surprise, published by Gamestop which explains why there are adds on every freaking page! Its to get you to buy more games. Oh and Game Infomer always gives games seemingly higher scores. How? On their ratings scale a 7 is mediocre while in other magazines and websites 5 is mediocre.

Avoiding the GameStop Rip Off: Don't Trade in Games at GameStop

Gamestop rips off gamers and screws over publisher big time. How? Well heres what they do. They will buy your used game for say $25 and then sell it again for $54.99. Your saying, this is just business. Well you would be right but heres what you don't realize, is its a major **** rip like their EDGE card. Lets do some more math. Gamestop will buy your copy of Madden 10 for what? Lets say $25 (thats being generous) and they sell it for $54.99. Heres the thing you can sell it/buy on ebay for $45-$50. Its better to buy and sell from places other than from Gamestop. Im just using Madden 10 because its a recent game but when you go into some other games the difference can be $20 bought or sold used. Heck some places even beat Gamestops used games prices with brand new sealed games. Why is $20 such a big deal. You can either save those $10s and $20 and get another game or get kick in the **** by Gamestop. How do the publishers get screwed? Well Gamestops 2 freaking billion dollar in revenue from just used games cuts out the publishers.

You think working at Gamestop is great right? You work at a places thats sells games somethng you love so it will be fun right? Wrong.

Lets start with how you get paid.This is how it works: Gamestop pays you (minimum wage BTW) through another company. They set up an account in your name which you did not ask for and deposit money into a card connected to that account. Whats wrong with this? Well you get charged a ton of fees to use it and if you want it in cash you have to go to an ATM machine and get it from there where you will be charged a fee. Yup, a fee for getting paid in cash. You say, just use the card right? See, the card isnt exactly a VISA or Amex card so its not accepted anywhere you would want to use it. If you try to ask for a direct deposit into your own personal bank account, you get the run around by your manager, corporate etc. Why do they do this? Because supposedly, most of their employees are teenagers who are too dumb and don't usually have bank accounts or cant set one up. Its stupid because other companies hire teenagers and don't do this ****. And if you think, hey i work at a place that sells games, ill have tons of them! The thing is you need money to buy games.

You are turned into a selling machine. You don't get to talk about games and how you love them. You are trained to sell . And no matter how much you sell you get paid the same, minimum wage. And if you don't sell you get fired . Wonder why the Gamestop employees always ask you to buy the game used instead? They're told to because Gamestop makes tons of money on it, two freaking billion. Why do they ask you to reserve games, get and EDGE card, and Game Informer subscription. Because they are told to sell like crazy. The Game Informer/EDGE card stuff is a joke as pointed above. And the reserve on games doesn't necessarily guarantee you a copy if its a super hot item. You are turned into a selling machine, not a person who gets to talk about games and such. And don't forget that Gamestop buys and sells used games like crazy so you will be organizing games all the time, putting used games into the system constantly, and labeling games, constantly.

Gamestop is a shaddy buisness who made it to the top by screwing everyone. How can they get away with this? Most of the people who buy games either don't know or don't care. Take your average soccer mom going to buy a game for their kid. They know nothing about games, their prices, and whats good and whats not. Its not the employees' faults though. They either sell like crazy or get fired and are replaced by the eager line of teenagers who think that Gamestop is the best place to work at. I could go into more detail about how shaddy they are but i don't have all day and writing novels in forums take too long.

Sorry for any bad grammar i typed this fast. And as for why im doing this, what gamer likes to get ripped off by a company? And what gamer want Gamestop to screw them over and their employees? Keep in mind, a shaddy company like Gamestop does have people on the forums defending them and closing down such posts.
