It's never promising to hear a director leave, but... Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street. I'm not devastated.

This stuff always bugs me. At the same time, while there's personal things I'd like to keep private from certain people I know, I have nothing of particular interest to anyone that doesn't know me. If Niantic ever made such information public, the sheer number of lawsuits would end them.

With the amount of players they have now, you'd need to do something incredibly noteworthy for anyone with access to such information to bat an eyelid... And I HIGHLY doubt anyone is actually accessing such information in such a way. But it's something that should be exposed and criticized, if only because by allowing it to become normal, more intrusive and malicious practices from other parties may develop as a result in the future.

@kazeswen:

George RR Martin. Only two R's, assuming you weren't trying and failing to be funny and were genuinely unsure. Also "A Song of Ice and Fire". It's strange you don't know the name of a story with dialogue you're apparently so familiar with so as to deride. I'm also not sure what dialogue you're referring to. You seem to be talking about the show, which George isn't the sole writer for. In fact, he was the writer for only one episode in each of the first four seasons, and none since.

Now I love LotR. But LotR is quite black and white in its morality. There are the good guys and there are the bad guys. It's not often an audience finds themselves hating an incestuous man for crippling a boy only to later to root for him. I thought Boromir was one of the most well written characters in LotR, but his like were few and far between compared to something like aSoIaF. GoT also has political intrigue and the writers willingness to kill off big characters to keep things suspenseful, something a lot of current shows don't have. They're both different, and both excellent.

Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia are the two I'd love to see that I imagine there would be a decent chance for. If we're lucky enough to get that I'll be happy. I have a feeling that we'll see less games if the program doesn't have a notable effect on sales, so anything after those two would be a bonus. Expecting the Mass Effect trilogy though, which would be nice.

There's plenty of less popular games that I'd love to play again, such as Nier and Tenchu Z, which will never make it the cut though (assuming there's a considerable cost to make a game BC). Sad but understandable.

Given the sheer quality of most the titles here, I'd be disappointed if Gone Home wins this. The developer capitalized on the phase the industry is going through at the moment. Had it been released ~2+ years ago, it wouldn't have seen anywhere near the level of success it has.

I've played all of these to some extent except Brothers, Tomb Raider and Guacamelee. All of them were great games, though The Last of Us was the only one that had me glued to the controller from start to finish. It's potentially my game of the year in general.

All great games, but this really isn't a contest. Zelda will win this hands down. I enjoyed Fire Emblem, but it wasn't as deep and strategic as I had expected. I guess a lot of the praise comes from the fan-service in the form of relationships. Good game, nonetheless.

@TileToad

Go read the escapist review. That was actually the gist of their complaint and justification for a 3.5/5.
