Video gaming is probably never going away. It's another way for people to exress their imaginations, and with gaming the imagination is more drawn out into a tangible form that excites those who freeplay in a world that you cant really touch but can now really visualize and move about. When a really good game comes out, it'll 1) draw you into the storyline, 2) make you addicted to the gameplay, and 3) give you a sense of imagination in its presentation of its world.
I think in gaming all 3 of these are essential to a great game particularly the imagination of its world. After all visuals are a big part of its presentation and without a set environment to lay its foundation for gameplay and storytelling, we'd all go back to reading. Probably in the near future we'll have a virtual imaginitive world all within our home projected from a small console where we can truly experience a world of imaginary.
