Mass Effect is my favorite series out there. All three games were fantastic and the story was outstanding. The ending sucked yeah, not because it was "bittersweet" but because it tore apart everything that the previous games built up in the universe and it had nothing to do with your choices. But hey, Indoc theory maybe? I hope so! Anyways, great series I reccomend everyone play it!
Is Bethesda also "Spineless" for releasing Broken Steel? As a gamer I appreciate it when developers listen to their audiences and then actually act upon what they hear. But hey, apparently that isn't important to the Gamespot staff for some reason.
Great artical Kevin! Three different games stick out to me for having soundtracks that really helped me get lost in their worlds. *Slight Spoilers* For one I think all the Halo games have fantastic soundtracks. I will never forget the end of Halo 3 when you are roaring back to your ship with explosions all around you and the Halo theme playing, it really is an incredible moment. Also the menu music for Halo 3 (Titled: Never Forget) is tremendous, it conveys that this is the end and it is beautiful and it prepares you for the ending of this awesome trilogy. Secondly I remember the opening credits for Assassin's Creed 2. Once you race your brother up the church, and the "Ubisoft Presents..." comes up. The music is just haunting. The camera pans out to show you the city and the music hits the perfect emotional chords. Finally there is Mass Effect 1 and 2. Both games have fantastic soundtracks. None of the epic moments in the game would nearly be the same. Two moments that stick out to me are in the first game when you talk to Vigil, a beautiful and haunting piece plays that suits the mood absolutley perfectly. And in Mass Effect 2 when the new Normandy is revealed and you take out into space, the music starts subtle and then roars into a fantastic peace that conveys the fact that you are back and ready to take on the galaxy and all its challenges.
