Shadow Ages Prologue Part 2/3

It's me again , and it's been a week since I last posted. Exactly 7 days ago the first part of the prologue went up , and even though I am advertising , THERE'S PROBABLY ONLY 4 people reading this!!!!!!! If you like what you read here please tell your friends , family...or your pet! Tell people you find on the streets (even if they ask for money) and tell them to go to an internet cafe (if they have money).

so if you see this guy , try to avoid and/or ignore him:

okay , now that that's out of the way , i may as well start with the next part of the prologue:

Part 2

932 BH , January 30th , Dawn

These were harsh times in our still nameless city. The gloom of war lurked just inches above our shoulders , and many of us feared this was the end of the Shounin-Keibi. No matter how many motivational speeches our leader gave , morale stayed at a consistant low. I was posted as a watchman atop our city's keep. I had never wanted to join the city guards , but father insisted that I take the same career as my brother.

Out of the blue , the town bell rang. 2 quick rings; that meant someone unidentified was on our territory.

"I got it!" someone exclaimed. It was Deikorin , of all people. I never truly understood him , always trying to be the best at everything. The only thing that he excelled in was archery. I could see now that our trespasser was no more than a carriage. I had no clue from here as to where it was from , but that hadn't stopped Deikorin from plugging it with three arrows. He immediately gave a whistle to his steed to rush out of the city , and jumped fom his post on the wall. his horse arrived just barely in time to catch him , and he strode to the position of the downed carriage. It took me and most of the citizens a good 10 minutes to get to where he was. I could see what had happened; both horses shot in the head , the driver as well (I told you he was a good shot). From the drivers helm emblazon , I could see he was from Warano. Now I felt less sick at the sight of his corpse. Deikorin burst through the carriage door and flung out someone. I was surprised at the sight of the little girl (not really little , but no bigger than I) that flew to the ground.

"Get up so I can kill you!" roared Deikorin , grabbing the girl's blonde hair. If she was a local , I could easily accuse him of being crude , a rapist , possibly a homosexual , and since she was from Warano , I could have as easily watched her die with glee , but I took some simpathy upon myself and stood forward.

"If you kill her so suddenely , Warano might come after us , too , Deikorin." I said  , trying to sound bold (or as bold as a 14 year old can sound).

"Who would know if she was dead? Let alone 2 horses and a soldier." he snapped back.

"Um , if I could have a say in thi--" the girl began.

"Shut up , b****!" Deikorin yelled as he he smacked her across the face. I thought this was bit of excessive force , and Solemnley replied by removing his hand (I understand this was also excessive , but it was just too ironic). He let out a shriek of pain and curled up in a fetal position. I'm not too sure why , but it seems the crowd lost interest and left the scene. Deikorin got up and limped back to the city , the girl however wouldn't get up. She wouldn't talk either.  She just sat there , resting a hand on her still red cheek. I litterally had to drag her like a neanderthal back to my residence. My mother and father had already seen what had happened , and scolded me for removing a Shounin's mandible. Surprisingly , they told the girl (who I learned was called Sara) she could stay here until the leader passed an order.

She eventually warmed up to me enough to talk , but whenever I asked her about what was going on back up North , she never answered me. As weeks went by , she got a bit clingy; following me wherever I went. It was about this time she began asking me some rather personal questions like "how old are you" and "what do you do for a living". I continually found myself staring at her for minutes on end without realsing it. It was a very flustering time for me.

I was promoted to royal guard on Feburay 21st. I was also given a murderer to track down. Some guy named Furuchi Namasaka. Apparentely he murdered 147 Shounin in his lifetime. Of course , first came the sentence from our leader. An escort was coming to pick up Sara , and this was the first time I ever really felt attached to her. The following night was very odd. A Satanrik slipped past the guards and entered our house. I awoke to see his sword poised over Sara's sleeping body. I lunged as quickly as I could , but he still got away. My brother chased him for a good while , and he tells me that it wasn't the murderer we were after. And then the day came that Sara was supposed to go. The following hours would be some of the most chaotic I've ever experienced...

but I'll cover all that later.

Fin.

Check back next week for part 3! :D
